Shift KNob for a 2006 SS/SC

Any recommendations on a shift knob.

My Stock one broke and the dealer is being a pain in my A$$ about replacing the stupid

trim plate that goes on top of it. They told me that It's the first time they seen something

like and i would need to drop off my car for an inspection to see if I had any part in the

equipment failure. They just want to look over my car to see if I put any aftermarket on

it just to void my warranty. I think they heard my intake as I pull up to the front on the

service area.

Fisrt off, they should never hear your intake, why are you that hard on the throttle around a dealer?? Second, I have replaced two shifters on the ss/sc for the knob coming off or the plate on top falling off.

Yeah I was a Little hard on the throttle in the parking lot when I pulled up.

My Shifter is also getting a little loose.

I bought a used knob on ebay for $5.00 that came off an Ion.

I looks exactly the same but the it dosen't have the screw that holds it in place like the 06 Cobalts do but it fits just fine. I am afraid it will fly off though not sure it will hold.

Ask yourself this. Does the CAI affect the knob at all. If it doesnt then they shouldnt void your warranty for the shifter.

Changing the Shift knob won't void my warranty, but if I start cutting **** it will.

It makes the dealers suspicious. Most service people can appreciate some performance if you are mature about it. Don't go flying into the service department full throttle and then complain about breaking stuff. Be polite and professional, and they will treat you the same. People who come in to me and treat me like they are better than me end up paying much more than they should. If you come in with a modified car, and are honest with me, i will do anything i can to help. It is all in the presentation.

Well spoken.

I have the trim plate atop the shifter break off and the knob fall off a couple of times.

I brought it in for service, and they replaced the plate and glued the knob down.

The knob has fallen off again, and I am not sure what they are going to do. Would they install an 06 knob?

Thanks,
Rich

Your right it doesn't but the Service Manager at my Dealership is a Dick.
If he finds anything Modified on the car he'll own my Ass.
Also I wasn't flying in the dealership parking lot. it's too small.
I reved up alittle bit in the garage and they had to have heard it.
Because everybody just looked at the car like they never seen one before.
Also the dealership never called me back to come in for the installation.
I am just going to buy an aftermarket one. and keep the broken one so when I trade it in then they can fix it.
**** Um

My friends father is the service manager where I bought my car . But i never go in for warranty work. The paint on the doors (the silver plastic around the window and lock buttons) is pealing so bad now. I didn't take it in. My sunroof button falls off, i never took it in. I know they won't cover it. I'm modded and don't even have the rear seat in my car anymore.

I mean I brought my car to the dealership to get my exhaust leak fixed on my header and downpipe (which by the way I still have bc zzp made a poor header). lol they know everything I have. My warranty has been shot already. I mean 4 days into having my car I hacked into the radio to hook up my amp for my aftermarket sub. 2 weeks after buying the car i put my magnaflow catback on .

Damn your screwed
I am also having paint issues.
My hood is scratched to **** from driving on the pkwy to work everyday.
and my trunk looks like its starting to pit.
I got the car professionally waxed twice since i bought it.
Just so the car would look halfway descent.
GM gave these cars crappy paint jobs

Tell your dealer to **** off if they wont fix your shifter. Thats b.s.! They make stage kits for these cars and they still have warranty's. I dont understand why dealerships wave people away for having cai's and stuff. Thats just money out of their pockets.
