Angry Shifter Bezel!?

so my shifter bezel just fell off...2 of the three tabs broke off and are stuck in the actual shifter. any recommendations? besides taking it to the dealer, who will tell me it will be a week before they can get the part in....

Dealership. It's free and that's what the warranty is for!

Then you potentially void your warranty should something happen..

They never told me it would be covered.

thats what i thought...too bad it will take them an hour to tell me that they need to special order the part and then it will be a week before they get it in. and then another hour to install the new piece....

soo glad gm rocks!

they would need to prove my s/t caused something else to fail...

I had that same little "bezel" replaced under warranty, no problem. The second time my shifter broke, I replaced it with a Hurst. The shifters on these cars are notoriously shoddy. If you live next door to a dealer, by all means, warranty the hell out of it. But you're going to need to make two trips every time; one for the dealer to confirm that the part needs to be replaced and place the order for the part, and another trip to have the part installed. For me, it cost more to have two days wasted and burn all the gas to get to the dealer and back twice than to replace the shifter with one that wasn't going to break

I actually might do that instead. Saves gas going to the dealer...

Lol, I'm in the same boat ! Mine broke last week on the 2nd and with the holiday I figured I would wait. All 3 of my tabs broke ! Good to hear it's not an isolated incident with mine.

The plastic the shift boot is stapled to. The plastic that holds the boot in the console it self.
