should i debadge?

i want to debadge my trunk, but i have a feeling that the paint under the badges will look different than the paint everywhere else...
before i bought my car it was a rental car in texas...
do you think the paint would have faded so much that it would be noticable even though it is an 07??

I bought my 06 SS in December of 2006 and just debaged it a month ago. The paint was fine, but the only thing i would be careful with doing is not scratching the paint under when you are actually in the debadging process.

I'm looking to de badge mine but have some questions
1) So there just stickers, I worked for a Ford dealership years ago and the badges actually lined up with holes in the car, the cobalts not like this?
2 ) to get the glue off, a 3M finishing compound and then some wax will do the trick, or will that screw the clear coat up
3) Ive seen some that had COBALT written across the trunk, where would I find the lettering to do this.
Thanks

1) The Cobalt lettering and bowtie are not like that, however some dealership badges are bolted on.

3) You reuse the lettering that came on your Cobalt by applying new adhesive to the back.

I just debadged my 05 ss/sc yesterday and it came out perfect. Do it when its cold outside, use fishing line or dental floss and use hot water in a squirt bottle to pick off the double sided tape with your finger nail.

Debage it, looks much better. Just whatever you do dont use a heat gun, use a hairdryer and then goo gone it afterwards and then i'd hand wax and it should look fine.

I debadged my gold chevy bow-tie in the back.

1. Hair Dryer.

2. Fishing line or Floss (I had to use floss because I have no fishing line)

3. Bug & Tar Remover

This.

It MAY take a little elbow grease to get the last little bits of old outline to buff out, but as long as you're careful, you won't hurt anything.

Debadging the balt is a MUST, it looks so much better. For me, I just left the SS Supercharged emblems on the lower doors.

Autozone or advance auto parts has a can of adhesive remover for a couple of bucks and it eats the adhesive away. you don't need a hair dryer to do it. You don't even have to worry bout it scratching your paint. I took my rear chevy off and about to do the rest. When done, I get to do my fiancee's charger.
