Should I Tint?
Should I Tint?
Hey guys,
I just bought a black SS/TC and I am trying to decide if tint will look good on the windows. Is it removable if I do not like it? (Without scratching the windows) Thanks guys!!

Tint is a MUST.
Get 20%. However 20% is pretty much illegal in all states on front two windows. Check with your local tinting laws. Did not stop me though I got 20% and only one tint violation warning.

just dont tint your's as dark as my truck front window's 5% , i have to roll them down at night to see my side mirror's lol
Tint FTMFW man its awesome i think by far the best mod u can do to a car it makes it look sleek i mean i only have 30 percent but it still looks good if u dont want cop trouble anything above 30 percent is good 20 percent u might have triouble though but its the best looking tint were u located at
Tint is one of the cheapes mods to buy for your car & it makes it look really clean. That doesn't include all the other good things tint does for you.
I say go dark or go home with the tint.....
I say go dark or go home with the tint.....
it all depends on where he lives.... In VA where i am 35 on the fronts can get you pulled over... well actually anything past 50 can.... not saying they will but they can
the price is another thing that really depends on where you live.... i spent 160 and got 35 all the way around, but if i stilled in PA it would have coasted me more because there are on ly like 2 shops within like 2 hours of me

even more law discrepancies, in both oregon, and california, you can go as low as 5% aka limo tint in all of the windows except for the driver and passenger and you can have a front six inch wide strip along the windshield at 5% too.
I was like lucky, but when you think about it. That looks tacky.
yes they are removable but not easily, you have to use a heat gun so the adheasive comes off with the tint or else you'll spend hours srapping the glue off with razor blades.. no hard to your windows tho... i'd follow your state laws because i spent $200 for front and rear tints + sun strip, 5% in rear and 20% in front and they only lasted a month because the cops stopped me and made me take them off or else i'd pay a huge fine and it would go on my driving record... it looked sick when they were on, soo good that i bought precut tint and i'm going to try to re-tint them myself, yes 20% again in the front lol
i never learn

Yeah see, I would be pissed if I payed 200$ for tint and then a month later I got ticketed and cops made me take it down. Im pretty broke, so 200$ is a lot. I remember back a few years ago when I was a teenager, I had a Grand Prix with 20% tint all around .. Drove it for a bout 1 year. Never had any trouble because of the tint...., even was pulled over a few times in it! It really is luck of the draw.
All it takes is that 1 cop who is having a bad dad and/or Mr. Dudley Do Right. Doesn't matter if every other cop in your city is cool with it... just takes that one.
So if you have 200$ to spend and want an appearance mod, I would say get some Halo CCFL Projector headlights. Those are way sweeter than tint. Honestly, I am in the minority when it comes to window tint I suppose. Seems like a lot of people think its a make or break mod. It does make your car look cleaner, especially a black car. But its not like your car would look like **** or incomplete without tint.
Honestly though, on the same topic.... If you do get tint, just casually roll your windows down (weather permitting) whenever you see 5-0 roll by.
Honestly, like most things, I believe a majority of the time, petty **** like this that involves police officers is directly related to the type/crime rate/size of your city/town. If you live in the burbs or a small rural town. Yeah, you might get busted for Window Tint.
I lived in a **** hole, one of America's most dangerous cities... Flint, Michigan. It wasn't even metropolitan like Detroit or Grand Rapids, but check the list, like top 3 most dangerous cities in the country as far as murder/capita. My point in all this is, everyone in Flint has dark window tint in flint, especially as you get to the hood down-town. With drugs and crime + the shitty state economy (Michigan's) the cops in Flint and other bigger cities don't really have time to **** with window tint. Most the cops in the down-town flint area don't even really bother with traffic offenses. So honestly everyone, window tinting is a gamble. My point is, you must take a look around at your location and really gauge how much of a risk it is.
Rule of thumb- If you know that your local police crew hangs out at the gas station on the corner of your main street, then you prolly don't want to tint your windows.
On the other hand, if you have AT LEAST 3 Starbucks withing reasonable walking distance of your home, your probably goodz.

I know I talked about this in my tint thread a few days ago but here goes again;
Some states allow medical exemptions for window tint... Michigan is one, California does NOT allow medical exemtions. Go to www.tintcenter.com to find out if your state's up to date tint laws along with medical exemption info
I talked to my doctor last week, who is a realllly down guy... type of guys you would love to have beer/smoke a dubbie with! Anyways, got to talking about the 2009 SS I ordered. Somehow we get to talking about tinting and how stupid it looks legal in Michigan. (We are the ONLY state in the country that has a height and not light transmission % for front sides). Basically, we can use ANY darkness tint on Front Side windows, but it has to stop 4 inches below the top of the window, in order for I am assuming law enforcement to see faces.
But yeah, long story short, he is going to write me a prescription, yes ... a prescription for 20% tint~! What Up Doc!?
