So i went to debadge the rear...
...looks good, right?

look closer:

evidently my bowtie had previously been removed, and rather hastily. supposedly it was a rental in its past life, so i doubt anybody debadged it because they thought it looked cool. and with the way that person destroyed the paint underneath, i'd venture to guess that the bowtie was stolen.
so how do i fix this? do i have to pay out the butthole to pay a shop to repaint the whole trunk? or can i do it with some color match spray paint and some careful sanding?
they're all too deep to buff out but none of them went all the way down to the metal.

Googone. wetsand, polish. If none of it went to the metal start with that. See how it looks. At least invest the hour it'll take before you make the decision to repaint. It might not look as bad as you think.
Plasti dip the trunk!!

So I'm digging the totally debadged look. I'm working some magic with some duplicolor scratch fix primer/paint/clear coat along with plenty of wet sanding and buffing. I'll post pictures of the finished product if its not embarrassing.
so here it is after many coats of duplicolor perfect match paint, several screw-ups, some lacquer thinner to start over, and plenty of sanding:

looks pretty good from a distance but there are several blemishes to work out. it needs a lot more white paint, a lot more sanding, a lot of clear, and a lot more sanding and buffing. but overall it's turning out surprisingly well.

i didn't even think about that, but i probably wouldn't have done it, just on principle. i'd hate to buy a whole new body part just for some scratches. even if it does make more sense in the long run. ya know?
