Solid red or Carbon fiber hood?

hey i'm new to this. just have a question to ask. I'm going to be gettin a new hood for my cobalt sometime in the near future. It is an '06 victory red Ls. I'm not exactly sure what style hood yet, but I'm first deciding on if I want Cf or just a solid red color. Do you guys think the CF looks to rice? I'm not really into that look because most of the cars around here that go for that look end up looking like garbage? I don't know, whats your opinion? Thanks! Also, who makes some quality hoods for cobalts. I've seen one by RK sport and a few CF ones.

I have the RK Sport hood in red, check in my gallery for pics. I know gravana tuning and cobalt addiction (both are supporting vendors) have CF hoods in different styles. They have the OEM style, ram air (like RK Sport), and an extractor style. Check them out and see what you like best.

Well by definition if you are putting something like CF on your unmodded 2.2 LS then yeah its kinda rice (in an American sense). that what rice is. Putting useless things onto a car with no performance mods that help its speed.

now if you have performance mods and your car is on its way to being a beast then sure go right ahead.

well the hood itself would kinda be a performance mod for 2 reasons imo, 1. its lighter = less weight = go faster. 2. its ram air and has a tunnel underneath that throws air directly into the airfilter turning it into ram air for 2.2 and 2.4 only. id say go for it but paint it red,

I always was told CF is horrible to paint, that's why you'd want to go with fiberglass if you're wanting a cool hood and it not be CF.

i was told carbon fiber would be no harder to pain tthen fiberglass would be, actually my idea was to buy the rk sport hood in carbon fiber, paint the top red to match and leave the bottom carbon fiber to accent the engine bay.

i agree with DTM, the rk hood is nice. Its probably the only hood i'd put on mine. especially after seeing it in red on DTM's car. man that looks hot.

As for carbon fiber being rice, i think that all depends. If you're doing more to the exterior of your car and plan to make it a bit of a "show" car, then its not really rice, its just part of the exterior styling you're going for. If the car is totally stock except for the hood, it will look out of place. but if, for example, you're dropped with blackout out headlights, rims, and lip kit, the carbon fiber hood would look ****.

Sounds good. I agree with painting it red, CF looks stupid (in my opinion) Be sure you have it painted correctly and not go cheap by not adding a clear coat or some crap
otherwise
