Sport Fascia on a 2LT?
Sport Fascia on a 2LT?
My g/f just purchased a 2008 2LT last month and she really likes the car. Just yesterday, she was involved in a small accident and it cracked the front fascia. The headlights, fenders, and hood are all fine.
My question is, what does it take to put on a fascia from the "sport" cobalt? Is this something that pretty much bolts right on in the exact same place as the old fascia?
These are some of my concerns.
This is what she has (only she has a 2-door):

This is what she wants:

Fog Lights:
She has the factory 2LT fog lights with the black surround. I assume the black surround is separate from the fog light and that the location of the fogs line directly up with the sport fascia?
Lower Grille Shape:
The lower grille has a different shape. I assume this piece would need to be purchased.
Energy Absorber:
The piece of black foam behind the bumper. These seem to be the same based on what i can tell from gmpartsdirect.com drawings.
The overall shape:
Would the sport fascia look funny. I assume the sport fascia is meant to be used with some sort of "ground effect" on the rocker panel. Would the bottom of sport fascia sit lower than the rest of the vehicle? I cant really tell.
Anyone done this before? Anyone has pics?

OK next question, how do you remove the foglight housing from the back of the fascia? I dont want to break the housing.
To the above psoter: How bout 35 shipped for both outer fog surrounds?

is that upper grill cracked? if not it's not i'll take it off you hands.
there are clips on the top and bottom and the are tight sob's so be carefull when you pry at them. it's easier if you can under the car and get behind them, you'll see what i mean. i painted mine black cause that gray looked nasty on a black car.

The middle lower grille is not cracked, and neither are the two side grilles that go around the fog lights.
The upper grille with the chevy logo is not cracked either but i need it for the new fascia.

For future reference:
The sport fascia does work however, the front lip of the 2LT does not bolt up and the wheel well liners do not meet up with the fascia at the bottom either due to it being about an inch lower (or longer however you look at it).
So to do the conversion properly I believe you need the following:
Front bumper cover
Lower Grille (middle)
Right and Left wheel well liners
It isnt a MUST on the wheel well liners because they still bolt up in 2 of the 5 places but it would be nice for the extra support.

another thing you need to keep in mind is the front bumper hangs down slightly lower, so to make it really look right you need to get the side skirts, and then the rear bumper will finish off the look. It will look just fine with that front bumper, it really will. But the side skirts and rear bumper will make it look just that much better.
Check junkyards, any ss or sport bumper will work. The ss supercharged has a lower lip, I believe you can take it off. If you can find a used one you will save yourself some money, they aren't cheap!
