SS facelift...err, hoodlift(pics)

Just got the SS back from the Midway Monkies last friday as well as a new goodie that Ray@revitup sent me.

The hood is a beautiful peice of work. I'd give the construction and finish a rating of 9 out of 10. The fit on the other hand I'd give about 7 out of 10. It took myself and my dad about 35-45 mins to take off the old hood, install the new one and then finagle it into place. The lines where the hood and fenders meet are not very flush and it's hard to adjust it as there is very little room to move the hood around on the mounts. I have some more close-in shots if any one is interested. Overall I am very satisfied with it though, and I've had nothing but compliments and stares from everyone that's seen it. The car was greeted very nicely at the Pav's this weekend..except for the weirdo srt-4-loving, lancer rally art owner. That guy was a little out of it. (Long story)

I havent messed with the bowties yet. So I can't help ya much there. I'm going to wait and see if someone makes actual carbon fiber bowties that are gloss or plastic coated and look OEM. Except using CF that is. I don't wanna get rid of my bowties all-together, but I think the standard Chevy-gold ones are a little out of place on these cars.

whe i first saw the hood on ebay , i had the good ole WTF face going

in person it looks pretty nice , and its 100 times better than the rk hood i have on my cav

and yeah that clown at the pavs was a serious nut job , a rally art that runs high 14's stock , LOL

the very few ive seen at the track are lucky for high 15's , but that was 110 + outside at night

Wasn't he a strange guy? The whole time we were talking to him the term "Ricer" was bouncing around in my head.

Seriously, he said he has a stock lancer rally-art that runs 14.9 w/ 165 hp or so!

I'd like it more if it was painted black or yellow. I don't like how CF looks.. looks too ricey for me. But that design is sweeeeet

to me.. CF looks nice far away but up close it just looks weird.. just my opinion though... on the other hand I still think your hood is a definite upgrade to your car

i think its a nice hood, but i think its too much contrast on yellow, but then again im not a big fan of yellow cars
for the ultimate sleeper look, you could paint it, or paint color matching flames over the CF
my buddy did that, and it looked insane

the biggest issue i have with buying a hood is the fitment, they are always a problem

Heh...could be. But I think the big wing, chrome exhaust and 18 inch wheels kinda kill the sleeper look a little more. I'm not going for a sleeper anyhow. Just having the SS/SC alone is enough of a sleeper. Just about everyone that doesnt actually "know" about these cars think they are a slow mid 15 second POS. So, it stays CF black.

This one wieghs around 15 lbs, give or take. You can lift it with your pinkie finger by the hood latch. The stock one wieghs in excess of 30 lbs.(you could probably lift that one with your pinkie as well, but it would hurt a lot )

Not bad. Should paint it yellow tho. How would it look on a black cobalt?

I like bare carbon and painted carbon just depends on the situation ..in this case on a Bright yellow car ...PAINT IT or whatever you want its your car ...

as for the debadging question ...get some goo gone it will take it off ...treat it in stages if you dont get it all the first time... I think lighter fluid works as well ...just make sure you clean the surface after and take your time

that would look good on my black ss. Only prob is that I want my car to look more mysterious as opposed to flashy and cf tends to attract too much attention.

Hehe. One thing I found out about our cars the first week I had mine is that in stock form, you're already flashy enough to attract just about every eye on the road. So I figured I'd go with the CF hood and some black wheels later on w/ lowering spring kit and give them a visual overload

Don't matter now anyhow. Now I have to worry about trying to salvage the hood itself due to some ******* punching about 5 fat dents in my hood yesterday! It looks horrible. Can't have anything nice with all the dirty ******* running around in Phoenix.

Dude! That blows! Do ya know who did it? If you do, make him pay for a new hood. And then when he's paid for it, Beat his nose in. Double payment. Got any pics of the hood now?

I have no clue who exactly did it as it was just some ass walking by my buddies house where the car was parked. I do however know what type of person did it, I just won't say as to not **** people off and sound like an ass myself. The other dudes in here from AZ know what I'm talking about though. This happend in south phx on 44th st/southern.

agreed, or just give it some paint, so it blends better, yellow + cf is too much contrast like sneaky said, so it looks out of place, give it a little paint and leave some cf like i plan on doing with mine and it will look sweet
