Too fake. It's like putting an SRT-4 wing on a Neon. There are certain things other than a badge that differentiate the reals from the fakes, to me the wing is one of them. There are some other decent looking ones out there though, look at the one Mercury has on his.

If you really want a spoiler I would get something else other then the SC one. Just so people don't think your supercharged when your not. Just sayin'

Who cares what other people think? I'm sure any dealer would be happy to put one on for you at purchase time if you wanted it, unless like in my case, they don't offer it in your color. That's why they call it an option.

As for performance, you're never going to be cornering at any kind of speeds to see the effects of downforce from a spoiler anyway, so it's all about the look. For the most part at city and highway speeds, a spoiler just adds weight and drag, thus lowering fuel efficeincy.

Do to your car what you think looks best. Noone is going to call you a posuer unless you are telling people you drive the SS/SC. The only thing thats fake is when you badge the car something other than it is. THAT'S when you look like an idiot. e.g. I was at an Autocross event a few years back and some dill hole was showing off their "race-tuned" Lambo.

At first I couldn't figure out why someone would bother trying to tune a Lambo, then I saw the big red "Type-R" badge on the rear fender.

I called the guy a total flamer, and asked him why he would want to rice out his pasta shooter.

He didn't have an answer.

Bottom line, there's nothing wrong with installing a factory hing-mount spoiler on your car. As long as you aren't trying to convince people you're in the SS/SC. If you feel like it's going to make you look lame, check out some other after market options. There's a ton of spoilers out there that look great that don't look like the factory high mount. Personally I like the more custom look.

I have to agree completely with tallyphotog. It's YOUR car!!! Do with it as you please.
If you like the spoiler, by all means add it. It's all about making your car appealing to YOU. Not what others think you should or shouldn't do.
Besides, most likely only Cobalt owners will know that the big wing is only available on the S/C models. Everyone else will think it's a factory option.

Well, it would be fake in the sense that you don't have a supercharger and most people will think that you do because of the wing. You should have just learned how to drive stick instead of ******* around with this wing business. On the other hand, it is a good looking wing.

I think the SC spoiler is ugly. You can't see well out of the back window too. If I would have gotten the SS/SC (didn't want to be "car poor" when I bought a new car) I would have spent even more removing the ugly thing.

I would say spend money on something worth it. Or save your money for all these turbos they are talkinh about.
