Steering Colum Key Marks

Bought an 08 LS with around 30k miles on it. Everything is clean, minimal swirl/scratch marks & the interior is in good shape, but the steering column is scraped up like a blind guy tried to put the key in every place but the ignition. Tried a little but of rubbing compound but it did nothing. It's really not a big deal but i've been kind of OCD since this is my first nice car (Prev ride, was a 97 Dakota that needed a paint job). Any suggestions??
