steering wheel & quick release
ANYTIME the airbags are removed or safety systems are disturbed, a work around will be required. The more modern the car, the more difficult. i.e. the Redline in 2004 is easy, an air bag light stays on. A 2010 cobalt 6 years on has side airbags, and passenger seat sensors and a more rigorous integration into the Body Control Module so it becomes not so easy.
i dont. I can find out but it takes time and money for Tim the Electron Guru to do it. Maybe you can find someone locally who is a thomas edison type can study the schematics and figure it out.
what set up are you talking of? the hub adaptor? 275 for the race version 375 for the sexy version.

there is a big block of alloy to be machined, and there are internal splines to be machined as well. Very few machine shops can do internal splines. My good buddy Ron has the equipment and the skill, but it takes a lot of time. and you cant screw this up; when it comes to steering there are no short cuts.
Just like brakes, safety is paramount. But to tell the truth there are some scary things that happen in the modding world.
Hammering an NRG hub designed for an old style chevrolet steering shaft spline that has no master spline is a horrible thought. The spline teeth are correct, but the master spline is not there, and the taper for the shaft is wrong as well.

racing one is the skinny one with the bellows cover. The fancy one is larger

The adaptor is much longer than stock. I have always found that the relationship of the steering wheel and pedals was flawed on the Cobalt and for the track the steering wheel needs to be about two inches closer to the driver than it is.
The reason the wheel is placed the way it is, in my view, is probably because of air bag deployment physics and the risk of injury from air bag deployment if the driver is "out of position" or too close. Gen 2 airbags deploy at 275 k/hr, with an explosive device ( sodium azide or similar) and are tuned to deploy after the collision has occurred, that is to say, after the occupant has moved forward in the shoulder/lap belt ( in milliseconds).

Oh and one more thing. While it would be relatively easy to put a Q-D hub on the assembly I would frankly not think it would be needed, to aid getting in and out of the car. As for removing the wheel and hanging it out the window, as you drive down the road, thats just a childish and dangerous game.
crap I dunno. Ron has so many gears to cut, his best man has seperated his shoulder for the xteenth time and needs surgery, so hes down a man, and I got ZZP parts to make for them first. say three weeks. and then i gotta do a run of these things as its not economic to do the set up for one part. And they dont sell at all, maybe i have sold a dozen since 2004...I will talk to Ron and get back to you, chase me if i dont reply by thursday thanks
All these electrical things work off specific values resistance and voltage signals.ybidea would be to send it the signal it wants to see without reprogramming anything.
