but is it the nature of a black car to develop small scratches? i just got my ss a few days ago and i can already see some.

 

black gets "swirl" mark (scratches) very very quick and easy, you will get them from just washing you car

 

your right it is a stupid question but for every stupid question there is a stupid answer.

black cars just are way too cool not to get a stratch. if anything just buff them out or wax. it's next to impossible to see stracthes on a silver car unless someone makes them very apparent.

 

but scatches dont ''develop" as you said, they dont just appear, you did something or somebody did something to get a scatch on the car

Simply rubbing against the car when it's dusty will cause scratches that can be seen wherever light reflects off it. Washing the car and waxing it causes swirls or fine scratches, partly due to sand/dust that you inadvertantly catch/trap.
If you enter your car in a car show use something like Liquid Ebony or Finesse-It-2 to hide scratches. These have to be buffed in with a foam pad for best results -- these products fill scratches in temporarily -- lasts maybe 2 weeks but will give it a glass-like appearance.

 

the only way to avoid them, not prevent them, is to make sure you rinse out the mit you're using to wash the car before, during, and after washing it. Also be sure to rinse the chaimos or whatever you use to dry it also. Be sure to rinse the car real well also before you start washing it. Although the car may look clean, you may be grinding all those small particles into the paint.

When I do a full detail on my car I use Meguire's Swirl Remover 2.0 That stuff does wonders.

 

If you drive on the highway a lot, you'll start to see them just from the little tiny pebbles constantly kicked up from other vehicles hear bouncing off the front and sides of your car. You won't see or hear them, but over time it'll start to leave little marks in your paint. That's just one source, on top of what's been mentioned already.
