Suedee Headliners Anyone?

Suedee Headliners Anyone?
Has anyone here swapped their stock headliner out and had it recovered in suede? I am thinking of having mine done and the visors in a light grey just to go with the rest of the celing mounted plastic pieces. Part of me says it'll look good, while the other side says it'll look like crap and mimic a low rider interior. Could you all with one installed post some pics so I can get an idea on what it will actually look like?

It depends on the type of suede. A cow hide suede is usually about 2 to 3 oz in weight where as pig skin suede is about 1 to 1.5 oz. They feel really similar so most people wont know the difference. But I've never seen suede pieces big enough to do a whole headliner so you would have some seams. And $1k for doing it is ridiculous. I can get enough suede to do a whole headliner for about $100 from Tandy leather.

$1K for suede? For that price I'd expect it to be done in genuine alcantara. The interior place I called said they will redo the entire thing for $180 plus the material cost which I think was $50 a yard for suede depending on the amount needed. So under $400 for sure. I hate messing with hedliners, done a couple before and that was enough for me, so I'll let them mess with it

Genuine Alcantara. As if suede was fake Alcantara, alcantara is the synthetic item. Why would you need Alcantara on the headliner anyway, its not like it sees at alot of sunlight that would fade suede, and doesnt usually get wet either so washability isnt an issue. Even after all that Alcantara is still "only" around $100/yd , meaning youd need $150-$200 worth ( you only need a yard and a half, but most places wont sell half yards)
