is Summit White actually Matte White??

I just read an article talking about how 2009 was the year of Matte white for sports cars!

Up until this point I had never heard of Matte White (Matte Black yes!) But not white

SO they showed pictures of Matte White BMW's and Lambos and they looked like the exact same white as the Cobalt SS TUrbo......

NOW.......let me say this.........When I first saw the Simmit White Cobalt I as always scratching my head thinking............

" I have never liked White cars before, but for some reason this car in particular looks amazing and its tone of white looks like no other white cars i have seen on the road before"

.........now after seeing the article and comparing the tones of White on these high end cars to that of the Summit White Cobalt SS Turbo, I am starting to think that the.....

Summit White color that GM calls it is actually Matte White.........

WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK?????

no its not... matte white is matte white... summit white is a normal gloss paint with an ever so slight blue hue to it...

It's just a name. It's white. Sunburst Orange was the color of mine -- just happened to be the name GM marketing folks decided on.

I can guarantee you that your $20+K compact sports coupe does not have the same brand of paint a $200+K Lambo does. Same spot on the rainbow spectrum, maybe, but not the same paint.

i ment......is the white that GM used on the 2009-2010 SS/TC that they named "Summit white" actually Matte White

......I forgot like Matte black that it has Zero Gloss to it......Summit White does so I guess I answered me own Question.

Anyone have a ball park figure on how much vinyl wrapping costs???

IIRC its costly. costs as much as a really good quality paint job.

the quality wraps are a pretty penny........you are really paying for the install over the materials, granted the stuff isn't cheap

but one seam outta place it will look like ****
when it starts to bubble, it will look like ****
when you apply it on a touch surface i.e. (doors and trunk) the wear will make it look like ****

i remember reading about the dude that did the first 3m body wrap (it was on a new body sti hatch the matte green one) and soon after the install it was already starting to wear and tear around the edges

all the way down and painted right with door jams is more like 7-9k which is a good paint job, 4-5k gets you a respray with decent paint.
