Tail light, 3rd Brake Light and Side Marker Tint and Install
Tail light, 3rd Brake Light and Side Marker Tint and Install
Well, I originally wanted to have an all red theme, but more recently I decided to go with a red/black theme like my interior is. Here are some before and after shots of of rear end installation.
The damn aftermarket tails didn't give you and "padding" to prevent water from leaking in on the reverse lights AND one of the "posts" that go into the trunk on the reverse lights was too small for me to screw in the stock nut into so only one nut fit onto each "post" of the reverse lights. Any solutions to this?
Anyways, enjoy the pics!
Before:
I tinted the reverse lights red to blend in completely with the car

Progress:

Notice here on the left (stock reverse light) that it has the padding that you need to transfer over to the new reverse light

It was warm out so all you have to do is lift up and with an exacto knife I cut down to where the sticky "goo" was that was holding it onto the reverse light. Be careful not to pull too hard or you may rip the padding. I then put double sided tape (emblem tape) onto the tinted reverse lights and stuck the padding onto it to make sure that it would stick.

Transferred

I tinted the third brake light and side markers with window tint that I cut out to fit. It worked perfectly as long as you apply it on as you would window tint.

Half on, half off

AFTER:

Now I just need to paint my stock halogen headlights black (I have a set on the way) and I'll be set for now until I powder coat my rims red/black to match my car!
Let me know what you guys think!! I know we have seen tinted tails a ton of times, but I just figured I'd share my progress!

I like the 3rd brake light. All my lights are tinted except for the 3rd one...might do it. Personally i think you could have went abit darker. But its your choice and also i dont know what the cops are like where you live.
I would've let them un tinted. I have reverse LEDS and in those reverse housings, they look sick.
I like the reverse light area tinted as I think it flows better. Just my opinion though!!
When I was holding the third brake light it wasn't tinted at the time. When it was on the car though, it was tinted. I didn't take a picture of it off the car tinted (don't know why)

The tails are fleabays!!
I cut out some window tint to fit and then applied it over the side markers and 3rd brake light! Easy as pie!

Yeah, I'm still in contemplation mode about them .... who knows!

Thanks man!
I actually had some older window tint floating around so I cut it out to shape and applied them on as you would window tint (20%). They're darker than what they look in the pictures.

awesome photo Vik!! I dig that shot!! It gives the tails more justice than besides my crappy iphone pics!!
Glad to hear they're holding up well so far! I basically got ALL the padding off the old lights since I had an exact-o knife!

That "sticky crap" got ALL over my hands. I had to wash my finger tips with a brillo pad basically to get the crap off! haha.
