As long as your lights aren't super hot/cold, clean them well, you give them a few (3 or 4) minutes between coats (but don't wait around too long), and do LIGHT coats they're kind of hard to muff up. I've done them for some of my friends, and they've all come out looking super professional. Nice deep black, with a rich shine. No clear necessary, I didn't even buff mine.

looks good but too much red for me i like how dark mine are. and they are 100% legal too because you can see perfect at night.
i got mine profesionaly done. altho i wouldnt call it profesional quality because theres a few creases on the lights. but i dont care bc if i was to do it my self i A) would of done them wayyy to dark probally. and B) wouldnt have gotten them as clear and glossy as they came out. i paid 60 for the 4 lights and third brake light.

IDK about New York but I thought they have to be visible during the day time for them to be legal

I'm pretty sure the tint will last a good time. and even if it doesn't its only ~$12.99 to get another can. Which still doesnt add up to $80 or $115. Either way IMO the can was the way to go.
