Targa Top?

It doesnt quite sound like a good idea, but I figure I'd through it out there, whats the odds of an aftermarket targa top for our car, is it possible, let alone feasible?

Not gonna happen... though it would look sick.

There's too much support being provided by the top to cut it. Now maybe if you put in a roll-cage style hoop around the windshield and the rear of the cabin where you wanted to cut it you could do it... but it'd take a lot of work.

Interesting... that I'd like to see pics of... I wonder if that car is driveable... or if cutting the top made it a trailer queen.

Yeah its possible, but would not be considered "aftermarket", since that kinda implies anybody can just get it done. It would be more of a "holy **** thats custom" type of thing, done by a very dedicated individual or shop.

Pop the back seats out and put a roll cage in, cover the whole **** up and put a wall of speakers behind it ... a targa would be cool, but more wind noise is maybe the last thing the cobalt needs

Wonder if they'll ever do a convertible 'Balt, they made convertible Cavies..

There's a last gen Cavalier around here with a Targa cut into it. Looks sick, and its functional. No trailer queen for it...I used to see it everywhere. Some kid that works at McD's. Anything's possible I guess.

and does it pass inspection? thats the question.

Anyone can hack into a roof and make a targa top.
but can you do it safely, to the point where its completely legal....thats the tough part.

What about making a T-top style roof. I am sure that would be more legal and safer, and would look sick. Ultimately you could have the top pieces in to keep it looking normal but also pop the top for cruisin or car showin. But a lot of work.

T Tops would be good too, the thing would be the ability to replace the roof for all weather driving. That pink car, its not the best picture but at first glance I cant tell if the roof section can be replaced or not, doesnt look like there are any provisions for it to slip and lock into.

I wonder what body shop would be able ot pull off such a feat, I think t-tops would be better in retrospect.

Target Top Pink 2.2L Cobalt

I have a picture of it from the top. It is a 2.2L cobalt with the R32 front kit on it.

Okay... yeah... that's definately a trailer queen. All the stickers on the winshield... not streetable at all. Dosen't look like there's a way to put the top back in either.
And WTF is with the single post wing?

T-tops would be easier... provided you don't have a sunroof in there LOL.

I don't know what some of you are smoking but that pink car is fugly. But if you look closely, it does not appear to have any holes for the targa piece to go back in. Probably not so fun in the rain.

oooh yea i have a sunroof, damn me and my short sightedness. t-tops would have been sick. AS for the targa top, obviously this ones a trailer queen, but the question is can it be done street legal and so the car doesnt fold in half
