Hey everyone, I HIGHLY need your opinion here!!! I just thought of this... I have a friend, and they were arguing with me that the Cobalt SS looks like a Cavalier. This was quite the heated debate. Anyways, let me know what you honestly think on this subject so I can tell them how everyone else feels!!!!

We should know what these look like, but for easier viewing, here they are...

Anyways, in my opinion... completely different in most aspects...

No, it's a completely different platform as you all know.

I own a 97 cavalier ls right now and just bought a blue SS. There's quite a difference!

 

I (and I assume everyone here) can easily tell them apart but I imagine the everyday driver on the road might get them confused. The Cobalt, Cavalier, Sunfire, RSX, and Tiburon all share the basic "fastback" body style so I'd guess that the average driver would get all five of them mixed up!

I will grant you that the Cobalt's styling is more evolutionary than revolutionary. It's more refined than the Cavalier's but it's not a massive difference in appearance.

The side quarter glass shape is similar on both models. They do look different but there is some simililarity in some of the body lines.

 

It doesn't even look 5% the same.

My previous car was an '03 Z24 Cavy, and in my opinion there's no similarity AT ALL. Whoever is arguing that they look the same should explain why, cause other than the quarter window I don't see it.

 

I traded my 03' Sunfire (sunfire=cavalier, only some interior and sheetmetal differences) for my SS and NO WAY IN HELL can you compare the 2 in anyway shape or form....LOL

 

You can clearly see that the headroom in the back seat is shorter on the SS!!!!!!!!!!!

 

On first glance the two cars do look similar. When my wife first brought up the idea of me getting a cobalt, My reaction was " I don't want a cavalier". No offense meant to you cavalier guys, they just weren't very inspiring cars in my opinion. Driven a few z24's and they were cool cars, but the cavalier always seemed to me to be more of a reliable but boring little car. I worked for a car rental company for several years and have driven literally hundreds of cavi sedans. That is where I formed my opinion of them. Then I was working on a rental car lot one day and came across a cobalt ls coupe (loaded w/just about everything except a sunroof). After a good look at this car I decided that was the car I wanted. It's nothing at all like a cavalier. All of that was to say at first glance it looks a little like a cavalier. Upon further inspection, noone could ever confuse the two.

 

no such thing as an 03 z24, you mean ls sport, or you got your year wrong

 

I hate to say it, but the Cobalts DO look like a newer Cavalier. I've had the SS close to 2 months now, and people are just now asking me if I got a new car, cause they look like same car. Cobalts are still Cavaliers in heart, different platform, different interior, but still though its a Chevy, all their vehicles look the same

 

He lives in Canada so he probably did have an 2003 Z24..

We all know that the cars are on different platforms and that they are not the same

however, yes, the lines do look fairly similar. Only in the fact that the rear windows are the same.

the whole suspension, tuning, interior, etc is completely different

Yes they both look like fastback coupes... thats where it ends

 

They are both 2 door compact coupes so of course they look alike.

I do like those Z24 wheels on the cavy. Shiny = good.

 

It has more in common with the ION than the Cavy.

 

The most noticible thing is that the cobalt has fenders and a smaller back window. These things make the cobalt look stronger. Not to mention the different door handles, completely different rear ends and side mirrors. The cavy looks like a bubble comming out of the pavement, but the cobalt looks like a bullet racing across the pavement. the cobalt just looks better- contemporary design, crisp lines, etc...

What a stupid question for a poll...who came up with this? Might us well ask: Does the Cobalt SS look like a SRT-4?

 

Does wikkymaster even know where Canada is? It's the massive land mass to the North. The US's largest trading partner and the most "Americanized" country of the G7 nations. Maybe you should do a little research about us. Canadians actually have 10 toes and fingers (no offence to anyone on this forum who doesn't) just like you. Peace!!
