For Those w/ 9007 HID setups

Hey, do any of you know if the HIDs turn off when you flip the high beams on? Like, since there is no second filament for the light to turn to, do the HIDs turn off, or does flippin the high beams on and off do absolutely nothing. Trying to find alternatives to my autolight problem and the high beams can solve it. Thanks.

i would think they would turn off.
your headlight harness has 3 prongs, 1 gound 1 for low 1 for high, and since your HID would tie into that low beam line, switching to highbeams would kill the power to your HIDs, unless the 9007 plugin kit somehow draws from either line somehow.
doubt it would though, because then you would have a small blip in the power to your HIDs which isnt good for it.

ok...lol...as far as ive figured out on my G5 which uses the headlight for the DRL....
during the day the headlights are on as DRL's (when the e-brake is released)
at night all the lights come on (auto)
during the day if i pull back on the stalk to flash the lights then the headlights flash (only if the DRL's are manually shut off 1st)
at night if i pull back to flash my lights nothing happens...if i push forward to turn on high beams the headlights and foglights shut off completely

sounds like when your flashing during the day its just engaging your lowbeam
and at night your at regular lowbeam and going to "high beam" which doesnt exist.

Well, I guess I'll have to find out when I put them in. Reason I ask this is because my autostart turns on my low beams before it cranks, then flash twice. As we all know, proper warm up and cool down is very important for HID, so my plan is to flip the high beams on when I get out of the car, then when it starts, they would be the primary light being used. Done it multiple times on dual bulb setups, but not on a dual filament setup. Without the second filament, i would assume it would cut power, which would be the ideal result in this situation.
