Tint

I'm really debating, all of my friends and such are telling me to tint my windows pretty light, slightly darker than stock for the fronts but do dark (like 5% in the back). But I had my Cavalier with 5% in the rear and 20% in the front....and I kind of want to do that on the balt....opinions.

Go light unless you want all the ******* cops harrassing you... take me for example, just last night I was made to rip my tint in the front (20%) or my car would be towed. They pulled me over for just that. GAY!

I would go the way you are headed with 20% up front and 5% on the back...put 20% on the very back window though because between that and the wing...you wont see **** at night

I'm not sure what the law is there but I would go as dark as you can without getting harassed by the cops. It also depends if they really pay attention to that stuff around there. The legal limit is 35% on the passenger and driverside here but I've got 15% and noone has harassed me yet. There are a lot of other people around here that have dark windows also. The only people around here that really harass you is the state patrol.

there is thread on here where i asked people to post pics of their cars with tint and what pct their tint was, that might help you some

as far as tinting goes i went 20pct on the rear window and back side and 35pct on the front side windows. now my paint job looks way darker then it really is cause i took this pic while it was raining.

hmm, i think i need to take a pic when its sunny out, that one doesnt really do my car justice.

Well, to give you an idea, I had 20% in front and 5% on the rear on my Cavalier for 2 years and I got a tint ticket once, and that was because I was driving 85 in a 65 past a cop. He gave me the tint ticket instead of the speeding ticket...

Sounds like what happened to me! (see post "need to vent" in lounge) Except I wasn't speeding or doing anything wrong. GRR

After going through that thread....I decided that I have to do at least 20% on my front 2....I hate the way anything lighter looks. But now my decision is, should I do 20% all around or 20% in front and 5% in the back.

they are tellin you that because going lighter can often draw less attention from cops in areas where side tint is illegal.

I went that route and the cops havent hassled me yet on my tint.
but i also believe its how you drive too.
if you go to street racing events, or speed, your likely to get tint tickets hehe.

I have to agree. I have 20% all around and I love it. It's not too dark and not too light. I say go with 20 all around. Whatever you choose, it'll look nice though!!

I'm going to do the following on my car when I get it tinted:
  • Front Sides - 50%
  • Rear Sides - 5%
  • Rear - 20%
The way I look at it is this. The 50% front gives me enough tint to reduce glare and some view into the car without attracting too much attention. The 5% rear sides darkens the back and gives it a lot of privacy, plus it makes the front sides look lighter. The 20% rear makes it dark enough (especially with those rear sides) but still lets me see out of my car at night.

I have my front windows 50%, and the back windows 5%. So far I have no problem with cops. I would also check with your state laws and see what the maxfor your front windows can be.

Do the rear three windows 5% with a 5% tint strip on the winshield, and the front two in 15 or 20 percent. That's how I have mine done. The sillouhette (spelling) of how dark the rear are done will make the front look a lil darker. In certain light you can't see in the front two windows, but it's not as dark as 5%...

-5% rear three and tint strip
-15% or 20% front two

These are my state laws.
70%| ANY% | ANY%

Pretty much they don't want anything other than stock on the front two...but they don't enforce it all that much....unless you street race/speed/etc then they will pull you over for it.
