Check and see what is legal in your area before you do it. Also, something really dark will make seeing out of your back window and in your side mirrors extremely dangerous at night. I went only as dark as is legal here in NC... that way I don't have to worry about cops or inspections (they check that stuff at inspection time, ya' know?).

The darker the better... my Cavalier was 5% and I loved it! (until it got dark-lol)
The cops used to pull me over and I'd tell them, your $50 ticket is nothing compared to the $350 I paid to have ti done. Start writing...
I only got one ticket for tint and the judge threw it out because the cop was an asshat.

With my Cobalt, this one will get the 5% treatment once it gets warmer.

I too would like to get 5% but am afraid of how bad it will be at night. Could someone possible take a pic at night from inside their car?

I had 5% on my eclipse, you learn to drive by making out light specs as cars. Seriously all you can see is head lights.

Has anyone else had a proplem with tinting the back window? I went to get mine tinted and he said he could only tint it up to where the factory tint/dots started because the tint would not stick to it. I am unhappy with this. Has anyone else have there's tinted all the way up, and not have any proplems with it not sticking?

I have read on here that people have had it done successfully. A good tinter should be able to do it with a little work.

Yes, well it all depends. I know my brother got the same thing with his Mustang GT. The lady said it depends on the car, really. She said sometimes it sticks, sometimes it doesn't. I guess it is one of those weird things in life. But isn't that most things? But yea, sometimes there is nothing you can do. Damn little dots.

I have heard it will not stick to the dots as well but when I got my tint done I asked the installer and he said he can make it work, 7 months later still looks perfect over the dots no peeling or bubbling, they also gave me a lifetime warranty if it did peel bubble or turn a funny color I have it replaced for free, just go to a reputable place would be my advice so if it does peel they will take care of you

I've got 20% all around. I have to say its really the best balance of functionality and privacy there is. Also, I had the dot-matrix covered with black vinyl instead of tint. Looks great both inside and out of the car. Also know.. I'm -very- light sensitive, that being said, high-beams through the rear glass with 20% don't bother me.

w/ 20% and an Ebony interior I don't get a second glance from the police. Legal in TX is 35% front/whatever rear. So long as the front and rear tint look the same and its light enough to see through a bit in daylight, the cops probably won't bother you.

Well where we live. yes. Tinting is completely illegal here. But in some places 35% is completely legal. Maybe even lower.

i have 15% on back and sides, and 20% on the doors, 3m tint. the guy that done my car has been doing it for 30+ years, and did a very good job. he did the back glass in one full sheet, and very little bubbles, and it has stuck over the bubbles in the glass thus far. bdwarr6, i live just south of you near seymour, and ive been pulled over twice, and neither time did the cop ever say anything about the tint, and both times were at night.
a side note to the tint, be aware that at least in mine and a few others i asked on this board, after you tint the front windows, when they are rolled down and the doors are shut several times, something on the inside of the door panel rubs a hole into the tint about an inch and a half down and about two inches in from the top corner. mine has this on both windows. dont know whats doing it, but i had a thread on here and others said it did it on thiers also. just fyi.
