Tint on back glass & front windshield
Tint on back glass & front windshield
I got a quick question, on our SS how did you go about tinting the top of the front windshield & the top of the back glass? The reason why I ask is because I remember when I had my girlfriends cavalier done that the tint didn't like to stick to the black little dots found on the glass. And I noticed that our cars have a little bit on the front where the rear view mirror is and all the way across on the top of the back glass.

To my best knowledge, They use black vinyl (Or whatever color you're best trying to match) You're correct in the fact that the tint will not stick to those "Dots" It all blends in very nice if using a somewhat darker tint. Hope i could help!
I just got my back glass tinted yesterday on my Cavy (5%) and yes it has the black strip over the dots. 5% is very dark obviously, so the strip is barely discernable from the actual tint film.
I have 2 layers of tint on my car and 1 layer on entire windshield and i have no trouble with the dots...i can't really explain how my guy did it i guess its just a matter of how good a tint shop you pick lol
later
i also want to see pics! lol
lol i wanna see that... mine is stuck on there but half ass

Just to let you guys know, the tint on the back glass dots can be made to stick on MOST cobalts, i'm a tinter, i would say that 95% of my cars the tint sticks fine. Every once in a while i get one that really gives me a fit, but it can and does happen without vinyl. I have tried many methods to deal with the dot matrix and our most recent works well. I tint as normal(as if it had no dots), then before i squegee out the film on the dots, i have a helper heat the outside of the glass to get the glue on the film nice and sticky before i hit it with my squegee. As i said, it works great almost always, if they are really stuborn, we do have a clear glue or some adhesive promotor that we use but never vinyl.
As for the winshield, thats a different story, you can't concentrate heat in any one place on a winshield because it's laminated, it will break, so i tint it and forget it, it usually never sticks to the dots in the center but it dries even and looks fine.

[QUOTE=EmperorJJ1;2345027]huh wouldnt 2 layers of 15 be 7%? thats how it worked to the best of my knowledge. Because i have 3 layers of tint... dealership 35% and 2 layers of 5% Im still trying to find out a single % of how dark that is
not to my knowledge the guy who tinted my windows said u take the number ur starting with at 1 layer which for me would be 15% and multiply it by what ur laying over it so 15 x .15...and i'll post some pics up let me see if i can find some saved on here

I don't have any real good pics of the windshield i'll take some tuesday or wednesday when i get my car back from the body shop but theres some crappy pics of what it looks like
