tinting

so on the 22nd i have an appointment for tinting, 15% on sides and 35% on front, question is, i asked about dot matrixes and they say they heat it up, i called back and asked if they would try glue like on tint-dude.com and they said sure, just bring the glue...

how has the glue worked out for anyone who has used it

also do they just apply tint on the parts that are transparent, ie, not the black surround on the black window?

The glue may not be necessary, but will work if the tint does not stick. If the tint shop doesn't have thier own glue then they probaly shouldn't use the glue you bring. The glue method is messy and takes some practice to work with.
Tint is only applied slightly over a small amount of the black ceramic edge, usually just enough to hide the edges of the tint from the outside looking in...

Well that depends on how confident they are about making them stick, most tinters will never 100% guarantee it'll stick but they will let you know if they think it will or not... Sometime that **** won't stick, it don't matter if you sandblast it first, lol I would say 1 in 3 give me a fit but i can almost always make it look presentable... Without any extra glue or vynil, just heat and a good prep...

I would just do vinyl from the inside.. what I did. Actually it's white vinyl that was color matched black then applied to the interior window with some strong ass glue.

well i dont want vinyl, and well they said they heat it up good and no one has complained before, so im hoping it works, plus i won't even get in the car for about 3 or 4 days after i get it done, so that should help a little bit... i think ima let them just use the dot magic or w/e and hope it turns out great, the others ive seen (from online pictures don't look bad or anything) thanks guys

Vinyls Ok. But i think it make the back window look weird from the inside, on the cobalt it may not be an issue, but some cars look like half the windows cut off, lol... Also, i don't normally like the transition from the tint to the vinyl, it usually leaves a line across the window where the 2 meet...

I have waysted a lot of money on ebay tint kits and defferent application solutions & going out to buy different films from parts stores. I finally got it down from cutting the windows to installing this film and the **** just continued to give me problems no matter what I did to get the fingers out it seemed impossible to get it perfect. I tried the blow dryer method and still no luck. So now I have the cargo windows tinted and thats it . Pisses me off the shops here wont tint your side windows if you have the back tinted so I am stuck untill I figure out a solution that really works. Complex curvatures of the sedan suck .

Will the glue work ?

how hard is it to get off if you screw up?

I'm not really clear on what your asking exactly, will the glue work for what? your side windows? The back windows? The only thing the glue is really needed for is the dot matrix on the the rear window of the 2 door cobalts, the 4 door cobalts don't even have the dot matrix.
Tinting takes alot of practice to master. Good luck!!! Post up your questions and i will try to help!
