Tinting

I have a question... My doors came 70% light through tthe windows already, and I want to tint them more, but don't think it would be possible to get to the legal limit. In Ohio its 50% on the front and back can be 5, which I can do, but the front are posing a problem. If I have 70 already, what do/can i get to get to 50%? Will tinters be able to do this for me?

As long as the glass is not made that color and there is a film installed on the glass from the factory they should be able to get the old off and put new on. Even if the glass is made dark they should know what percentage to lay over it to make it still legal. If im not mistaken i think laying 80% over the 70% would make it a total of 50%

I'd say go past legal unless you KNOW they are real sticklers. I have already been pulled over a couple times but not given any hassle about tint. I went 20% legal limit in RI is 70 and NY where my car is registered is 70.

I couldn't imagine going any lighter... in fact I woulda gona darker

I bought my 2007 cobalt ss supercharged from Ontario Motor Sales and they had "Compe Tint" tint my windows. There are few spots on the back window that did not take the tint and white spots are showing. I am supposed to be taking it back to the tint shop soon. They said over the phone that its normal and it is not 100% consistent on the back window and I am pretty well sol. Any thoughts, can this be fixed or corrected?

Love my tint at 5% all the way around. The tint shops should be able to help you out. Good luck

The 70% Tint is impossible to remove. The "70%" is considered to be factory tint inbetween the two panes of glass. You can put a shade of 50% on top of the 70% and the cops will rule it to be 50.

I will warn you though, 50% is almost like no window tint. I advise you to go either a little darker, like 30%, or don't do any at all. It's not worth your money if you only want to do 50%.

check your state laws. some states require that you need to put a sticker between the tinting and window. if the window sticker states 50% they can't argue

hmm will have to investigate this.... I'm from ohio so if anyone knows let me know. I only have found that it can be 50 front any the rest. If it's not required, could the tinter still add the sticker.

cool thanks, looks like I could do 50% on top of the 70%, so thats like 35% at the end of things? Just need to find a good tinter to get it done on.

no... they use a meter that mesures the light that passes thru the window. The tint shop will be able to give you a 50% tint even if you already have the 70% tint. honestly tho id go w/ 35% on the fronts cops will never notice...if they do its a fix-it ticket 7 you can have the tint removed & the ticket thrown out. But i know lots of ppl that have 35 fronts & dont get bothered & i live in OH.

No prob bro. I just had mine done last month and it looks amazing. I just ignored the laws and got 20% My guy said that if you have a light colored car 35% will look dark. I like my 20% even tho I almost wish I went darker...lol.
