Tinting our rides
Tinting our rides
I know there is prolly an "appearance mods" sub-forum but I am posting here anyways
I just wanted to be ,perhaps, captain obvious here for a minute and talk about the Law and Window Tint
We all know each state has their own laws on window tint, many with a legal % of light transmission that you can not negatively exceed.
Well I know that at least here in michigan, your family doctor (any M.D/D.O etc) can write up a special "note"/prescription for low level light transmission window tint.
For example, a few years ago, my father had a cancerous spot removed from his forehead, thank god it was not malignent (spelling),, skin cancer all the likes though. So I talked to my doctor the other day and he said he would be happy to write me up for 20% front window tint. If I get pulled over, just show officer the doctors note .
Everyone check this out.
Just tell your doctor you do not want skin cancer, so you want your windows tinted, they will call BS prolly and know it for cosmetic purposes, but honestly, sun=possible skin cancer, and you would be legitimately blocking more light, so it would still be beneficial health wise.
(My grandmother has her 2001 Buick LeSabre (go figure) tinted front and rear passenger windows to 20% (its like 35% in Michigan legal) because her doctor actually reccomended it!

Dude, my doctor has seen my ****...grabbed my nuts and asked me to politely cough to the side...... so how is "Can you hook me up with low light transmission window tint for my car" embarassin?
Ahh I think I get it,,... Cancer is "Manly" ? eh?
Oklahoma legal limit is 35% in the front two windows and 20 in the back 3. I had my old G6 with 20 percent all the way around and never was pulled over. I just got 20 percent all the way around on my cobalt, so we will see if i get pulled over,
I mean, keep in mind, breaking ANY law only sux for you IF you get caught

So it appears, that Michigan is the ONLY state that has a height restriction on front side windows. We can use ANY % tint on Front sides, but it has to stop at least 4 inches from top ( so piggies can see drivers face). I have seen cars in Michigan with this and it looks like crap.
Front backs can be any % too. Honestly, I have never heard of one person I know getting pulled over for tint.. My one buddy did get ticketed for it, but it was after he gotten pulled over for no seat belt, cop was having bad day i guess.

I have 30% sides and all rear are limo. I have been cited probably 3 times for tint.
You could paint the rear window black as long as you have side mirrors on both sides.
Straight from the CHP's website
Can I put after-market tinting on the windows of my vehicle?
The main requirements for legal window tinting in California are:
The windshield and front driver's side and passenger's side windows cannot receive any aftermarket tinting.
If the rear window of a vehicle is tinted, the vehicle must have outside rearview mirrors on both sides.
The law prohibits any person from driving any motor vehicle with any object or material placed, displayed, installed, affixed, or applied upon the windshield or side or rear windows, with certain limited exceptions.
However, legislation signed into law effective January 1, 1999, exempts from the above prohibition specified clear, colorless, and transparent material that is installed, affixed, or applied to the front driver and passenger side windows for the specific purpose of reducing ultraviolet rays. If, as, or when this material becomes torn, bubbled or otherwise worn, it must be removed or replaced.
Im sad because I think I am deciding not to tint my vehicle when it comes it. I don't ever want to have to talk to the cops face to face lol for ugh... a few specific reasons. but yeah. I don't like uninvited attention, especially from law enforcement.
I am going to take the 200$ that an awesome tint job around here cost, and put it toward LED Halo Projectors+ 3B HID system to power it.
I think those halos look sooooo **** at night time. I haven't really heard of one person who really doesn't like Halo LED Projectors. Whatever Generation!
Iowa law says 70 on the front 2 and anything on the back 3. Cops around here have the meters in their cars. Being that I'm in a sedan though I get less attention than the two doors. I speed like a mother ****** and I've never been bothered. I'm putting 35 on the front and 15 on the back 3 w/a windshield strip.
