Tired of Gen1 Headlights
Well its my 3rd year with this car...and every year i replace these damn headlights. This time the housing was melted by my silverstars. Last time was chipping of the clear coat on the housing.
Question is, anyone know if these are CCFLs? These look like a good replacement as I cant stand the gen2s.

Those are 3rd gens. I haven't had any problems yet, but have only had one month. I don't believe that they are CCFLs, honestly I've never turned em on. Aiming is a pain in the @$$.

I believe they are CCFLs... CCFL actually refers to the halo and the method used to light them up. CCFL makes use of a Cold Cathode tube, the reason they are so bright. The first gen uses a single LED at the bottom of the halo if I remember correctly.

3rd gens are leds... not CCFLS. I've had em for over a year now, no probs. No melting, no stress cracks, no leaks.
I'd recommend getting HIDS, they run a lot cooler than halogens, and I'm not sure if halogens would melt the housing.
And yes, they are a PAIN IN THE ASS to aim... but they look nice
If I had to replace em I think I might get the 2nd gens, and disconnect that stupid light bar. I like the ccfls, theyre a lot brighter than the led halos.

Damn, Silverstars melted your projector housings? DAMN, you just broke my heart.
I've been having huge, annoying problems with my HID's lately. I love the look of the Gen 1 projectors, and love the HID look, but HATE the headache my HID's are giving me.
The problem I'm having? They like to not turn on. I've checked all connections, everything seems fine. Might need new ballasts, ugh.
I want to bypass all the troubleshooting and headache by just putting Silverstars in the projectors, but now I find out they melt them? Gah....
