"Tjin" Style Trunk

For instant access to the GB please visit: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/supp...5/#post5867169

For hundreds of years, tuners from all over the world have been plagued with the age old question... Carbon Fiber versus Fiberglass (DuraFlex)??. You have been given an opportunity to choose.. so please do it wisely.

General idea of Pricing:
DuraFlex: $350-$599 MSRP
Carbon Fiber: $550-$799 MSRP

Production Outline:
2-4 weeks of in house R&D.
24-48 hours until I am able to post pictures of the final product.
After the Group Buy ends we will need 8-12 weeks for mass producing the trunk.

UPDATE 05/16/11:
I have gotten the approval to build a Duraflex and Carbon Fiber version of the trunks.

The pricing is set at $599 for Duraflex and $799 for Carbon Creations.
After the the product its completed, I will be conducting a Group Buy on the trunks.

Duraflex will range from $360-$420 + Shipping
Carbon Creations will range from $480-$560 + Shipping.
Those prices are based off of the amount of people who actually buy and leave deposits.
California residents are subject to pay a sales tax: 8.75%

Just got confirmation we will be doing this for the Sedan owners as well!
Just got confirmation that we would be doing this for G5 owners as well!

Typical shipping for one of our OEM CF trunks ranges from: $78-$118 in the Continental United States.

UPDATE 06/06/11:
I just spoke to the individual who will be lending his car to us for this project. We are scheduled to take delivery of the vehicle on 06/08/11. Which means the GT Concept trunk project begins in two days!

We have discussed the name of this trunk with Neil Tjin and we are honored to say that he supports us making this trunk for the Cobalt community. So the trunk will be once again known as the Tjin Trunk!! Woot!

Please copy and paste THE LIST TITLE AND LIST ONLY.

i.e. 1. ExtremeDimensions(UserName)/DuraFlex or Carbon Creations/Coupe or Sedan/Zip Code

This is a preliminary list, please only put your name if you are really going to buying the GT Concept trunk. With all due respect, I will be forced to leave a bad iTrader comment for the user names who drop out.
Granted, the trunk comes out to what its suppose to look like. If for any reason we fail to deliver on our end there will be no iTrader comments left for anyone and the people who drop out will be dismissed without any negative feedback.

I like that style, but I wouldn't invest in one, so I won't vote.

ur best bet for sales is the duraflex ... the cobalt ss community as a whole will probably not pony up on the dollars for the cf. you may have some buyers for it, but will def have more for the cheaper price.

This, sadly, is true. But, the mold is a mold, so i think both options would hopefully be available at some point.

Am thinking duraflex shouldn't be confused with dur-a-flex, huh?

After reading into what Duraflex is. I think I would want to go that route. Not just because it's cheaper, but it seems like it's a pretty tough material for a relatively low abuse part like a trunk we're talking about here. The only reason I would want something made of Carbon fiber is to keep the Carbon Fiber look. And for this item, I would be painting it to match the color of my car.

Or perhaps I don't fully understand what Duraflex is and how these 2 materials compare? Someone care to give me a dummies version of a comparison?

I pointed you to it

I would prefer carbon fiber so i dont have to paint it black and carbon fiber look great. Im sure dura-flex would have to paint match as it will be slightly off do to fade.

Carbon fiber its a buy duraflex i would have to think about it. Although I do have to ask why can it not be both? Molds are the same just use different materials or do you have to order a set amount and sell it to make profit if you sell both it wouldnt be feasible.

I voted CF. Duraflex would need ot be painted, so the total price would be about the same anyways.

Can't wait for people to buy the duraflex ones, and slap them on unpainted, that will be a wonderful day.... lol
