To get the paint, the color code is in the trunk to the left of the spare tire under the mat. It will be BC/CC U????, the ?'s will be the color code, I.E. rally yellow is U9414

exactly. If I wanted silver or chrome, I would've done so, but the I would've just left the headlights chrome too.

I bought a pair off of e-bay to be safe. And no, it doesn't mess with your light out-put unless you paint the reflector part. Actually I had a mechanic from my dealer try to tell me that I could be fined for my light's being modified in an unsafe way LOL.....um, yea

If you are refering to the rigged part og the main lamp reflector, that is ok. I didn't paint it, but it won't effect anything. once you get it apart, you'll see there is actually two pieces. the only piece you need to make sure to cover is the turnsignal lamp.

sorry, can't answer this one. Ask wikky what he did. I had a body shop paint mine and they clearcoated it to match the car body. I have yellow-painted lights, similar to the 06 'vette. I would emagine a light sand wound be helpful along with a primer coat.

When I did mine the first one turned out OK, and the second one turned out great.
I didn't sand down the chrome because there is too many small niches that are hard to get at.
For paint I used Krylon FUSION Gloss Black paint....with one coat of black primer. I did about three light coats with the Krylon, then did two coats of clear. Like I said after I had figured out how to do it, the second light turned out really nice.
Hey you guys, I'm new here and will be a Cobalt SS S/C owner real soon.
A friend of mine had a set of the Cobalt headlights that was given to him. So he didn't need them, so he gave them to me.
Now, I currently own a Black Cavalier (until the Cobalt comes in) and I did the same thing to my headlights.
Today, I started to remove the clear part off the headlights and it wasn't as bad as I though it would be. I got a hair dryer and heated up one end of a corner. I started to remove the glue slowly. After a while I went all the way around. I manage to pry one end open and had someone hold the hair dryer and go around it as I kept prying it open. I finally got it apart. It took me about an hour just for one. Tomorrow I will start the next one.
So for those who are asking, use a a hair dryer and have 2 flat head screwdrivers ready. Oh, and if you can get an extra pair of hands, that would be great too.
Oh one other thing, on my Cavalier I used Flat Black and it looked really good.
