Valve Cover Question..

Hey guys..

I'm between actually painting my valve cover or just high-polishing it..

My question is if you have to actually sand the valve cover before you paint it, or if the matte finish from the factory is good enough to spray? I know I need to clean the **** out of it either way, but do you NEED to sand or are you OK as-is..?

Thanks!

if your gonna paint it you should get it powder coated... the paint will get easily damaged and wont last long due to high heat!

if you use high heat paint it will stay on and look good for a while but over time the paint will go to **** cuz the heat... and also paint will not stand last on a under hood part... not durable enough, it will get scratched, chipped or just damaged... from basic matinance and work under the hood

I'd like to powder-coat it, but now that it's getting cold, I can't use my bike for a week straight while it's getting painted.. The place close to me has a long wait.. I guess I'll just polish it for now.. Thanks!
