you have to take off all electrical first and then just unbolt it and pull it up

There will be oil when you take it off underneath it, and you'll have to cover the open engine so no contaminents get in the engine

Not the greatest photo of it (was actually taking a picture of the space where I took off the dead matting from) ITs also not 100% finished, at that point I had no polish on it. And if it werent cold and night out I Could get a decent dirty pic of it

So far Halfcent has probly the nicest polished valve cover

I'm thinking about getting color matched paint to paint the spark plug covers though, it would be a nice compliment to a polish

And yes, you absolutely should be removing your valve cover to polish it. There are a couple of how-to's in the how-to section on polishing aluminum.

What sandpaper grit did you use in the last step, and what polishing compunds did you use to finish that?

Indeed, the best on here by far. I think he polishes in his sleep. lol

Oh, and for the love of God take them off when you are polishing them. Why go to all that trouble just to half ass it? Take them off and do it right.

Yeah, Bill has a lot of bling under there, but it does look really nice.

Check out the How-To's for grit steps. I don't use sandpaper. I use nylox brushes (you can use brass to if you wanted), and then rouge. It's all available at Home Depot.

I bought a spray can of wrinkle black from the Harley dealer. They use this finish on the Night Train and other models. The paint was almost $20 for one can. I haven't gotten around to pulling my cam cover and painting it with this stuff, but when I do I'll post a how to (if it goes well) or something in "Appearence" if it doesn't. Hope to try it this weekend, but that's not firm since installing my new GMPP rotors comes first (the stockers have a terrible shake - warped like crazy).
