Vital Info on RK Sport Hood *look*

So it all started with a thread here on cobaltss.net. I happen to see the best looking hood IMO. The RK sport extractor hood. After reading it looked as if there were future plans for a CF version. Well, I thought I would email and talk to the man himself about future plans. I was very interested in a CF version and rather not purchase the fiberglass version. So without further adue I bring to you the info on the future plans.

jwright@rksport.com,

Hi, my name is Roger. I live in central PA and I'm registered on a chevy cobalt forum. The main reason I am emailing you is to ask about a certain product. Many people agree that RK sport has a lot of great products and your hoods are no exception. We have been struggling to find a style hood in carbon fiber. With the rising cost of carbon fiber I was hoping I could suggest an idea. Instead of a solid carbon fiber hood, would it be cost effective to make a fiber glass hood in which would be over layed with real carbon fiber. The carbon fiber would be rolled over the edges and would be mainly created from fiberglass. One of my favorite hoods made for the cobalt SS supercharged is the RK sport Extractor hood which I believe is product number 12011006. Do you currently have this hood available in carbon fiber and is there any chance that our forum could get a group buy. I think we could get at least 5 to 10 people (possibly more) interested in buying one. Thank you for all your time.

Roger,

Thanks for your inquiry.

Unfortunately we cannot make the extractor in CF. The angles and cuts that have to be made will not work with this design.

Also, because of the high cost of CF and the low margins, I wouldn’t be able to alot a big discount.

Regards,

Jim

I'm going to shoot him one more email to see what happens. So for all of you who wanted a CF hood in the style above you can just forget about it I guess.

Jim,

Thank you for getting back to me. I'm a little disappointed because the RK Sport extractor is by far the best looking on the cobalt. I'm not 100% sure on how hoods are made but I will take your word for it. I'll shoot one more question in the last remaining hope for a chance to get a carbon fiber hood. Is there any plans on designs for a new carbon fiber hood that resembles the extractor? Thanks again for your time.

-Roger

Just some info for the cobalt community.
