Anyone know the weight differences in the cf hoods and the steel/OEM one?

Im trying to justify the price in my mind...

I'm looking at getting the OEM looking single side one...

What is not enough to make a difference alex.

the stock hood is pretty light hell the whole car is pretty light the only real reason to go cf is for looks. and if you want ultra light find you a fiberglass hood without the guts and watch that bab shake shake shake

it will in fact make a difference since this car is pretty heavy for its size, in fact i heard that its so light that the stock hood props try and push it too high

I think he's looking for acutal lbs.

Don't quote me on this cause I haven't weighed my hood but I think it's something around the 30lbs mark.

CF is around 9 lbs.

I just ordered one, not for the weight but for the look, i love the look of cf, but the only problem is that ALL Cf items are on back order.. and they will be untill july i believe.. something to do with experimenting (sp?) on airplanes with the government. i think her name is Badg1rl.. or something like that.. owner of Cobalt-addiction.com posted a good thread about it on here somewhere.. good luck

If you're concerned about weight difference, then get the true CF hood, not the single sided. Single sided will only give you looks.

I'm not sure of the difference there, but I'm assuming that the single-sided won't be much lighter (if at all) than the stock hood. Single sided is just a CF wrap AFAIK. Meaning that you still have a normal hood underneath... it's just wrapped in carbon fiber on one side.

Now maybe it's somewhat lighter than stock (if they use fiberglass for the hood itself or at least something lighter than the sheet metal in the stock hood), but if you're spending a few hundred on a hood, you might as well do it right and get a true carbon fiber hood. Anything else is just for looks.

True carbon fiber is VERY VERY expensive. The cf hoods that are available to use and most everyone else is a fiberglass hood wrapped in cf.
