Question What % Tint?

So, I made an appointment for Tuesday to get my windows tinted. By Michigan's law, I can tint the back three any % and my front two with a four inch strip from the top of the window down 35%. I am thinking about only doing the backs for now, but I'm trying to figure out what % I want to do. I will also do the front windshield the same as I do the back three. What do you guys think? Later, I may do the fronts "illegal" 50% or 35%... depending on how much I want to risk being pulled over. I have 6k HID's projectors atm but adjusted pretty low so they are not blinding people. For the most part the car is stock so I don't have much other reason to be pulled over. My car is a Black SS/TC w/ black on black interior. If you want to see my car, you can check it out at http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3359701 I'm thinking about 20%. My choices would be 35%, 20%, or 5% unless something else is recommended.

To sum it up... What % tint would you recommend for your back three windows and the front windshield strip?

15% all around. it's illegal, but who cares. a cop is really just being a dick if he's going to give you a tint ticket.

20% is your best option, its not too light, not too dark. practically perfect.

dont get the strip just go 20% up front and 5% in the back. my friend has it on a black car and it looks sick. i plan on getting the same as soon as i have some free time. he's been pulled over once and that was when he was less than 5 miles into the state from ohio, but he got out of it.

Sadly, I think too often it depends upon the cop and whether or not he's having a bad day as to if they mess with you or not.

Here in Alberta back three is legal too. Front two are not, but you see a lot of people with them done. I want to get mine done but I just know I'd be fucked with because I am unlucky like that.

I was thinking 20% before i even finished reading. Go with 20% and put the windshield strip down to where your rear window mount ends. That should be good. 4in is a little too small. go about 5-6in

I was thinking of doing exactly this... I am not going to do the 4 inch strip on the front side, nor the windshield.... I am either going to do 5 inch strip 5%-20% on the front windshield, and it's either all or nothing on the front sides. I won't go any darker than 35% on the fronts though.

I believe you are right. There is one City Officer around here that is just a dick. He literally looks for stupid reasons to pull people over and give them a hard time. This one time... he was patrolling and went to the "skate park" we have here, which consist of like a picnic table and a few ramps and told the kids they shouldn't be skating on the picnic table. Well the kid told him that this was a skate park and that is what the table was put here for... so the guy calls the Mayor and the Mayor even told him... that is the skate park and we built that to keep those kids from skating on the main streets. Talk about dumb...

That kind of stuff worries me... I live in a small town, so sometimes they need revenue...

Ok, sounds good. I live on M-55 by the way. About 4 miles from US-23. I'll PM in a few about meeting.

How hard is it to see out the back window with 5%? I am kinda worried about that. I want to still be able to see out the rear window, and I have an aero wing, so that cuts the visibility in half.

No way in hell I'd be able to pull off 5% all around w/o being pulled over... My buddy tinted his w/ 5% and he was pulled over constantly... he would get so pissed off.. was very funny though.

Whatever you get don't mismatch the tint, I hate when people do that. Either get the legal limit all around or, like in NY where all tint is illegal, go as dark as you can without it causing problems at night (20%).

Yeah definatley get 20% all around. I think getting the backs and fronts different percentages looks bad. I have 20 and don't find it inconvenient, but I wouldn't want it any darker at all. This pic looks wicked dark because it was rainy, and you're looking through 2 tinted windows.

i mean its fine, it takes some getting used to but to be honest 20 all around would look just as good.
