What do you think of this?
here's my VIS CF hood I'm ordering.

I'm pretty much set on this design, I'm just asking what you guys think for ***** and giggles.
but I do have a serious qusetion...
it says there's a water guard under the hood for rain getting in through the mesh, but do you guys think it would still leak? if it does maybe some silicone or something will fix the problem

I'm just worried about this hood leaking or something when it rains... but like I said if worse comes to worse I could seal the underside of it.
seriously though I'm wanting to do a little more to the motor, and get an exhaust system, still have to do a little more research to see what I want.

lol I'm hoping to change that soon I'm looking at a lip kit for it, and some sportlines to lower it.

haha I have an automatic LS... seriously how fast could I possibly be?

I just so happen to have an extra one of those, too...
Not I sir...was at work in a shitty GMC truck til 4, then went to Valrico and tuned Marca34. Whoever tuned him before almost killed that car.
But yes, I have the Catback as well as the stock header and DP. All for sale, if anyone is interested.

I might be interested in that exhaust, I have to see what i got in the bank after I get this hood taken care of.
It's sitting in the box my new catback came in. Let me know.
i had the same hood on my 00 civic si. i hope you plan on keeping it in the garage. there is a shield that goes underneath it but i never left that on. when it rained i never bothered to put it on. i was lazy. well my engine bay pretty much stayed exposed to the elements. my spark plug holes would get water in them and i would misfire on days after it rained. while the setup is not the same on the cobalt, i see potential problems with this style. it does look nice but in the end it exposes the bay to too many elements. this is my opinion. i would pick a different hood personally. but nothing beats those looks. in fact i had 3 of those hoods. I liked them a lot
i will say the seibon was better built then the vis. my seibon became very very slight yellowish but i think they have fixed that problem. the quality is better on the seibon aside from the slight yellow tint. the vis didn't fit too well. the gaps were bigger and the screw holes to put the shield up to keep the bay exposed from the elements was crap. if i were you id look into the carbon ram hood the one with the big opening. it is more subtle and you would have less of an exposure issue.
the water guard will still leak... i tried many things.. i tried to use velcro tape to hold the water guard on instead of using the screws because they stripped easy and i wanted fast removal. this works ok until you hit high speeds and then it becomes loose in your engine bay. the seibon one was a lot more flush. you could use a foam/rubber seal but the water will still collect. you can use an air hose to spray it out of the hole or your engine if it gets in there
.
the butt dyno said i gained like 10 hp when i installed it. obviously i didn't but its less weight and it cooled the engine down. so i honestly believed i may have picked up 1/10th of a second in a quarter mile. but i also had carbon fiber fenders and carbon creations trunk. the trunk was sooo light the tension bars made it fly open.. (remember this is on a civic).
when it is all said and done. if your car is a garage queen and you feel like carrying around those screws and a screwdriver everywhere you go in case it rains then grab it. just remember it can lead to electrical problems under the hood. also the seibon is better quality over the vis. they both have a fiberglass shell which is kinda bs.
my expert advise would lean towards the ram air carbon hood by rk sports. less trouble less drama but less cooling. if your car stays in the garage and is not often driven go for it.
sorry for rambling but theres some good stuff in there.

I like this hood but I don't want water getting in my motor, I was thinking about just sealing the rain guards in there with some silicone or something I'm not too worried about air coming through the mesh, and if water collects in there I can just go out and raise the hood to get it out right?
besides that you didn't have any problems with the hood, like cracking or any BS like that?
well it cracked when it was wrecked lol.. it actually kept its integrity pretty well i was impressed. i think that silicone thing is a bad idea. you silicone it up you have no benefits. you loose the cooling and down force benefits from that. you may have electrical problems if you dont seal it up. you could use weather stripping and keep it screwed in.. i would discourage sealing it up. if you use weather striping along with the screws you should be ok for leakage. the seibon hood was more flush and had less leaking then the vis. the vis was cheaper and more prone to leaking. i personally dont want to discourage you but you have to remember that hood is a "show hood" im a fan of the carbon fiber but it comes with a price. once you take off the vent hood you wont want to put it back on. the butt dyno can feel the gains.. at least mine i could.. i could have been hallucinating. water will collect on both.. you wont be able to lift the hood up because there is a lip the water will collect on.. you will have to spray it out with a air hose. if it doesnt rain much you should be good. but your in florida. i duno.. id go with the seibon if you choose that hood. the cover flushes better and the screws are better.. if you strip the screw holes you will feel shitty. its hard to repair carbon fiber.
