what would cause this?

wasn't really sure where to put this but last night on my way home from work i noticed this...

anyone know what would cause the climate control face to not light up all the way? i re-painted my dash trim a few days ago, i took it all back out to see if i had somehow messed up any wires but everything looks ok. i dont even know how long its been like that. any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Unless someone else has torn it apart before and knows the correct size, GM would be ur best bet to finding out would be my guess. If it were me tho, I'd just take the thing apart and take the burnt out bulb with me to like autozone or somewhere like that and look for the replacement

Chances are that it's some kind of weird tiny bulb that you can't normally buy. GM frequently does that with lights for controls and switches and stuff. I would probably take it apart and find the blown bulb and see what it looks like, then see if it can be bought in stores. If it can't, I'd start asking scrapyards around you for the HVAC control unit to replace yours with.

OR...buy aftermarket LED's and put those in there instead. That would prolly be the easiest route

now that i've noticed it it's really going to bug me lol i'll probably end up taking it apart sometime today and check out autozone to see if i can find a replacement. if they dont have it i know of a junk yard close by that has a few cobalts there according to their site, thats looking like more of an option right now. led's are pretty sweet but i dont have the know-how to do it or else i would.

LED's are really simple man. When you take your HVAC apart to get at the bulb, you'll see what I mean. Basically, you just buy a single LED to replace that one, or more to do all of them if you want. It's two connections and that's it. May have to solder a bit, but I'm not sure cuz I've never seen the inside of the HVAC stuff. But, it's really really simple to do.
