Window Tint Law Help

I got a ticket for my illegal window tint. I have 20% and the Missouri state laws say maximum of 35%. Now I do have a valid reason for getting tint. I have had 4 eye surgeries to correct lazy eyes and a few other conditions. I also get frequent migraine headaches due to the eye surgery. I was wondering if anyone knew where I had to get permission from to get the tint legalized. Do i need a doctor to sign off on it or can it be something like a registered nurse? I need a quick answer because my ticket is due in two weeks. Thanks guys.

You have 20% light transmission. Not 20% reduction. The law (most likely states) that you are limited to 35% transmission or better not 35% reduction or less.

Thanks for the clarification. I really want to get this over with. The cop wanted to search my car with a drug dog. He would have had fun pulling out my girlfriend's dresses and getting the worst scolding of his life. Anyone chime in.

I have heard of people getting permission to keep an illegal tint with doctors notes about acne so I'm sure you can get a note from your doctor if you have eye problems.

Has to be a doctors note. Im trying to get one cause I have a skin condition that can lead to cancer, and I hate dealing with cops. We have the same tint law in MD though, 35% all around and I have 20%. But again, it has to be a doctor, no nurses.

Wow, 35% is the darkest you can go. It is 20% in Nevada on the front two windows and you can go 5% everywhere elese. I have 5% all the way around and am about to do the front windshield in 50%. Also I should add that the cops do not really inforce the tint laws out here.

I know this is late but I.ve researched this as well. I found a pamphlet from the MHP that outlines the procedures you need to follow. First, you need a "Physicians prescription indicating the serious medical condition that exists and the specific tint percentage needed above the standard allowance." You then can go get a permit/sticker from the highway patrol office (as long as you are the one listed on the prescription and are the owner of the car). As long as the prescription was issued within a year, has the specific % of tint needed and lists the specific medical condition, you should be ok. Let me know if you have any other questions.

On a side note was it a Rolla PD guy that gave you the ticket?
