2010 Solo National Videos

I was unable to get the racekeeper system for nationals, I used my codrivers gopro HD. I ended up 4th overall...0.4 out of 1st...

The batteries died on day one, so my fastest run wasn't recorded.

West course:
YouTube - Nats - 194 DS - David Barkley - Run 2 - West Course

East course:
YouTube - Nats - 194 DS - David Barkley - Run 2 - East Course

Stock 2009 cobalt with muffler delete and 245/35-18 kumho v710's on stock wheels.

Woooo got a little tail wag at the :56 mark on the second vid, brought it back together nicely though. Its like you can tell when the turbo spools, car really accelerates hard to the next braking point. You obviously aren't a first timer on these courses. .4 secs is a lot of time, what car posted the best/1st?

the tires do not rub at all.

I did get a little loose in that section on the 2nd video. Every run it was loose there.....i'm blaming that section on my .4 That was just driver error....LOL.

John is a really nice guy, I was talking to him before the event and I told him I didn't care who won...as long as we can knock the ITR's out of the top spots Only 2 in the top 5....I think we are on our way....

yeah there is no reason a 10 year old car should still be on top of a stock class lol.

If you get the chance to drive an ITR, take it. The handling is phenomenal, and it's a good bit lighter than the Cobalt SS/TC.

ex-ITR owner, but mine was a Honda Challenge car.

I would love to drive a ITR....I got offered a drive at peru this year but wasn't able to make the trip. I put mine on the scales this year with 1/8 of a tank (little wing/no sunroof car) and weighed in at 2828 without me in it. I was talking to the ITR owners and most are in the 25xx range. That weight paired with 275's out front is a deadly combo

i have raced both on street tires tho. The ITR was amazing, the mini s... was fun but felt slower. I like the cobalt a bit just cause it has underdog status Plus I like the idea of developing a car.

I was looking into a hitch and small trailer to tow with the cobalt but ill save the extra pounds the hitch adds and just load everything inside.

Are you guys running Konis? I like the stock ones, but I think there's room for improvement. I've been in touch with Lee Grimes @ Koni, and he's willing to dyno stock v Koni if I can find some fronts to send him.

I have only rears right now. Testing them out at different settings right now. from the looks they are about the same compression as the stock ones but you can play around with rebound and maybe get the car to rotate more (again just rears)

The stock front ones are solid i gota say, plus i dont feel like cutting out the stock ones to put konis in just yet. I had to do that on my old civic and nothing but nasty clunks up front.

I'm running the stock shocks. The car rotates just fine for me....it's actually pretty loose. If I do, do shocks for next season then I'm going to get a set of double's. Probably some koni da's or see if ast can do anything. Both the other cobalts at nationals had koni's and 255 Hoosiers...

Thats the thing...the car has it in it stock. Like someone said earlier, around 56sec mark on day 2 the rear end got real loose and that was my fastest day two run. That was in a real fast section. There was more then .4 in just that section and through the sweeper that I lost by not hitting that right.

I have ran the 255's earlier this year and I like them, but they only last about 25-30 runs before you cord the outside edges. The 245's are a shorter tire so steering feels more nimble, thats why I run the smaller tire. I only run the kumho's because I can get more life out of them. Initally the hoosiers are more grippy but you will be buying them every other event

Wow.. good job David!!!!
And you did with stock shocks!!
The Mini S' and ITRs got many more years of developement under their belt.

Were you running stock front bar as well?

D stock is looking to be a really fun class... Good tight competition between ITR, MiniS and ITRs...
