Got out for the first track day of the season in the TC

Got a call last night from a friend, who let me know there was a last minute track day happening today.

Had a blast, sunny and 65* only 7 cars on the track all day.

07 GT500
brand new ACR Viper
04 Carrera 4S
new Audi TT S
new Audi TT
08 BMW M3

and my self.

Had a good time, I've got some video I will try to get online.

The M3 was driven by a younger guy whose dad bought it for him. Kudos to the guy for taking it to the track, however he lacked any kind of driving skill, he was pissed when I passed him in my little old Cobalt.

The two Audi drivers were a little upset too especially the TT S driver.

Fun had by all, now waiting for the GM power upgrade and slicks.

Also hoping someon develops some kind of suspension package for this car.

TMP, Heading out again in about 10 minutes.

Drag strip is 15$ today and the road course was $80.

If you pay to get on the roadcourse then you can take it on the drag strip as well.

So I should have some 1/4 times.

If you arent doing anything today you should head out, weather is supposed to clear this morning and its not raining right now so I htink it should be a good day.

So drag strip was closed due to the wind, but road course was open.

Lot more cars this time around a Civic club showed up a couple of new STI's.

Turns out STI's are the car to run with, I was having give and take battles with them all day.

The TC has more power down the straights, I was catching up to them in 3rd gear, better corner entry and more corner grip in the Cobalt than the STI.

But, corner exit at lower speeds I've got nothing on them AWD really kills it there.

Fun times, shocked the hell out of the STI owners.

They came over after the second time I was out with them and wouldnt believe me that it was a stock $20k car.

Your TC looked good out there. With more seat time you will beat that STI no problem.

I swapped to a set of racepads for the track but failed to bed them in properly with the cold conditions and cracked a rotor.

Ah that sucks. Although with some of the fools out there probably not such a bad idea haha. It got a little rediculous at a couple of points.

What do you have done to that thing?

I have a 97 Cobra that I swapped 03 IRS, into and Im hoping to drop in an 03 drivetrain this year or winter.

I want to go but I think Im going to hold off. 2 weekends in a month is plenty, I think im going to wait for this stupid GM upgrade to finally get released and a proper set of tires before I hit the track again.

BUT

You are in for alot of fun, if I remember you had an SI before, if you get stuck behind one you will simply be annoyed because it feels like you are following grandma out on a sunday drive.

LMAO @ comment about the Si. Yeah I had one and there will be alot of them there, like 25 people from my old Civic forum will be going which is cool. I am not gonna push too hard because I don't wanna destroy my tires and I dunno if I will go enough times to warrant $2000 rims/tires. I can't wait thought. I just pray that the snow is gone and that it is a nice day.

I was hoping for the Stage kit by now but I will have to beat some JDM Type Yo! people without it!

You dont need to push hard trust me.

Half of them wouldnt signal me by so I had to cruise around behind them, I could do the whole track in 3rd gear and still be able to pass that SI

The kit is out, one of the guys at work tried to install it on an HHR SS. I say tried because he had trouble getting the reprogram for it. Venom you probably don't remember me but I used to have a white Z24 that I ran in Solosprints and solo2

Yah sorry about that, the girlfriend and I were in the middle of something.

Although had you said where you were from I definitely would have jumped out, and taken you for a ride.

So I apologize for seeming rude.

OGC you should get yourself some Proline springs , and a rear swaybar you will see a huge improvement in cornering. Also I'm running 235\40's for tires. These changes took 4 seconds of my lap times wear I run.

Im looking into swaybars, although I'm not sure I really want to yet, what swaybar did you go with?

I have a set of 17" wheels im putting some r compound rubber on.

Your right I thought since it was more or less the same thing that it would have been out for the cobalt aswell. I gotta tell you though the thing really pulls after.
