This is good.
Ran the car once. It needs damper and brake pad help but it should do just fine in DS or GS.
STX is the backup plan.
Hope to share set up idea's.

Car is getting set-up and messed with alot but it seems to be getting competitive.
Another of my co-drivers just got her SS. Sport tint red or whatever they call it. It looks REALLY good.
I might be pulling the trigger on a white one(2009/ordered) here in the next couple of weeks.
3 cars should be enough to compare different settings on! LOL!
We did the same thing with the our 2 Solstice ZOK's.
We would work on one until is was clearly faster then switch to the other one then vis-a-versa. It really speeds development up.

OH! Has anyone found 18 x 7.5 wheels with an offset of 42mm that clear the front Brembo's? The calipers stick way out.
We have been having trouble with this..

i wish i had that kind of resource to pull from, i usually run in csp in an 06 ls. noone in my area runs the class im supposed to be in so i run where the competition is, so far i haven't won the class but this year i'm slowly getting some more mods to help. what kind of alignment specs are working for you, last year i ran koni's with prokit springs on stock alignment and the car was loose as hell. tommorow i'll be running with coilovers for the first time, gonna try full neg camber in the front to start and go from there.

Seems the new brakes are a new design too...Having trouble finding pads for the car...
Anybody???

All the stuff we have been messing with is for SCCA DS class for Solo2 and ProSolo. Dampers/alignment/Kumho's/exhaust etc.
Pretty normal stuff people mess with.

LOL I haven't ran in an autocross event since summer of 07. As of then the SS/SC was still a DS class car...

I haven't done any this summer (haven't had the time) but am hoping to turn in the SS/SC for a Solstice Coupe GXP somewhere in the next 8-12 months, and compete once again...

Hey Fast Mike, I take it you are the same Fast Mike from solsticeforum.com?

Mike... saw the stats from this weekend, and also noticed that a few are coming to nats to really make me and the 06 look bad.

I've not seen any wheels other than my Enkei Evo 5s have the 41 mm ( or something close enough ),so who knows.

Mike, I see you and Kevin were mentioned as possible spoilers for DS next month..

Should've also stated "if nothing else, they're sure to show just how much better the new SS is over that one from last year.."

We are working hard and trying to find some more speed in the car. We don't want to go to the show half-cocked. Setting up a new car is labor and brain intensive.
We got a late start but have checked off most the "big" boxes already. Wish we had more tuning time but I think that we are close.
It's coming along ok.

Next test is the Packwood Washington National Tour(me driving) and Prosolo(Kevin driving).
Then it's the Prosolo finale(Kevin) and Solo2 Nats!(both of us)
http://www.scca.com/hub.aspx?hub=3
Lots of info at the that link

If you buy one of these cars and don't autox it, I would be confused. Great bang for the buck!

Well Mike I have 3 cars on my list of "cars to buy"

The C5 Z06
New Mustang GT
Turbo SS

I look forward to seeing what you both can do with the cars. You guys are doing the work ( both time and parts ) that I've not had the budget to do until now.

Good luck @ Packwood

I'm coming into this one a little late, but congrats to Kevin for putting the SS/TC into P2 at Wendover. I'm hoping that the reclassification follows through for the "new D Stock" and that pesky 135i goes there

I've been slowly preparing a 2007 SS/SC for D-Stock and so far have done a first pass at a performance alignment as well as the requisite Koni's and Hoosier's. One area where I'm definitely jealous over the SS/TC car is it's much easier wheel selection. I wound up putting my 245/35 Hoosier's on Pontiac G6 wheels since they're the right size with a slight difference in offset. Do you know how difficult it is to find a 5x110 wheel in an 18x7 size?!

At any rate, glad to have you here Mike (with Kevin & Cal too) running at a national level! Let the info-sharing begin!

A couple other guys I've heard that have had the new SS out on the track have been very happy with it. I hope my schedule lets up so I have the time to get out and do some stuff this year. Best of luck with the new car(s) and keep us posted how it's doing.

Woohoo! Cobalt SS TC takes it's first National level SCCA win.
I was hoping it would do a little better in comparison to some other classes though.

It took first in a national level for D-stock? Not bad...

Not to totally bring up a dead thread, but I saw you and Dietz at Bremerton this Sun (I've got the yellow ss/tc that was in the same grid). pull off a 1-2 finish in DS. Nice job! I'm also looking for some setup advice. I ended up pulling 3rd in novice, .300 behind the leader. I KNOW I left at least that much(if not way more, but def. lost .3-.5sec on just overcooking the chicago box) on the track the last run... Frustrating but good at the same time.
-Had the electronic nannies turned off... car seems to rotate a lot better.
-need new, lightweight wheels and race tires (Considering CCW's but need more info on wheel offset so I don't stray too far and end up in some other class. Also need to do my measurements for brake clearance)
-Haven't quite figured out what alignment specs will work
-not sure about other tweaks yet, but trying to stay in stock class for now (just ordered the GCR, so I'll be stuffing my nose in that book)
-Driver mod (MORE BUTT TIME)

Sorry that we didn't get to talk more. We are pretty serious when we are racing for points.
Kevin and I had a good day.
We don't race in "DS" in the NWR for the local series. We race what we call "open Pax" class.
http://www.wwscc.org/event_results/2...a-01.html#OPAX
Just got back to working on the car for the upcoming year and it should become even faster on the autox course after we get more tuning on the suspension and brakes done with.
I wanted to come look at your car but was pretty busy then worn out.
Wheels are touchy in stock class. You can't change sizing at all but you can mess with offset by up to .25 of an inch. We went through a bunch of rims trying to find ones that clear the front caliper.
Not really that light but a couple extra pounds per side isn't the end of the world when the wheels are so cheap. Not worth putting the $$$ into superlight wheels at this point.
Car needs to find some more speed to put it on top at the Nat level especially with the possibility of the MiniS coming to play in DS.

I run my almost bone stock SC in STX. I was more competitive in STX and actually won a few times. Don't forget your are allowed DOT approved slicks in DS and GS.
