What tires are you running? You can generally get the biggest benefit out of better tires in AutoX.

Check with the organization that runs your auto-x races.

Certain mods aren't allowed if you want to stay in the same class.

Drew, if he wants to stay in the stock class he can't touch his suspension at all. Only real "mod" you can have and stay in stock is a Cat-back exhaust (if they run SCCA rules).

OP, if you're running the stock pirellis, look into some different tires. The pirellis are nice, but there are far better options out there performance-wise. Any tire that will fit on your stock rims will still keep you in the stock class.

Yeah, you aren't running SCCA classes then. And, like you said, if you were to run with a club that DID use SCCA rules, you'd be placed in a ridiculous class (Street Touring X or Street Mod).

Here's a good, easy to follow guide to see where any mods will put you in terms of bumping up classes: http://www.moutons.org/sccasolo/index.shtml

For example, if you already have a Stage 2 kit, then you're automatically in the Street Mod class anyways and you can just go to town, but if you just have Intake and a full exhaust, you could still qualify for Street Touring X.

Here are a couple of sites with quite a lot of autocross information.

First is a newcomerss' guide to autocross from the Rocky Mountain SCCA Solo website -- http://www.rmsolo.org/coneclps/NoviceGD.pdf .

The second is a very good tutorial with almost everything you need to know to actually do an autocross, again from the Rocky Mountain SCCA Solo website -- http://www.rmsolo.org/rmsoloschool/index.html .

The third is the 2009 SCCA Solo rules from the SCCA website -- http://www.rmsolo.org/rmsoloschool/index.html .

The newcomers' is probably all you'd need to begin with. Don't worry about the rules unless you decide to get serious.

stg3 is a waste of money. do u want warranty?
get stg2 and do full exhaust with intake and h/e. and call it done for power if u care about warranty

Get a bigger wing, torch the springs to lower it, NOS 150 shot, and some neon lights underneath and then cover up the taillights with some funky covers YO!
OH! Put a 6" exhaust tip on it too and don't forget your Kanji stickers for that extra speed.

HAHA!
Just kidding.

The best thing you can do is get some of the fast people to ride with you during your runs for feedback and advice on what to do better.
THEN do the tire/alignment/shock etc. thing.

If you are out of warranty anyways I wouldn't even mess with the GM stage kits. Just go get injectors, a pulley and hub and get a custome tune. It won't cost any more and the car will run alot better/faster.

If you want to get a "package" I would go with the Over the Top Performance (OTTP) kits. They seem to get the most raves by people on the site.
