STX suspension

I know some of us are thinking about moving to STX sometime in the future.. but did anyone post a list of suspension candidates?

Any suspension made for Cobalt SS that would be competitive for use in STX?

I'm not going full coilovers. I've got the Pedders springs sitting in the garage waiting and then just a Hardcore rear bar ,my Koni shocks that are already on and som LCA bushings.

Thanks jboogie....

Do you know who makes coilover for Cobalt SS?
Any respectable company that you think would be competitive for STX use?

Coilovers aren't STX eligible, are they? I thought the spring types had to remain the same as stock for the Street Touring classes. -Nevermind, looked it up and they are allowed.

That said, I run Pedders Springs and the OTTP hardcore rear bar in ST (225/45R17 tires FTW) and I like the feel of that setup so far.

Haven't researched coilovers at all and sometimes it's really hard to separate the truth from the BS on this forum. I had some on my last car and spent so much time trying to dial them in, I was trying to correct driving mistakes with adjustments instead of changing driver inputs. I'm affraid the Pedders springs may wind up being a little soft for a wide tire setup. But, we'll find out.

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...t=28282&page=5 some opinions here.

I'm thinking maybe a good custom valved DA Koni would be better than any of those..?

Many autoxers now run ASTs... but they are quite expensive...

The "ST" classes in autoX allow a lot of mods but dont let some so read the rules close. I built my STI for STU and i could tune the car, but you cant play with OE boost.

For Cobalt... the main objective would be putting the power it already has down...
It probably already has more power than other STX cars...

Your best bet would be a custom setup to be competitive(ast, moton, ect). Which would mean playing around with spring rates, shock settings, and sway bar settings....No one has really took the plunge yet in a serious stx build. So there is a lot of R&D that needs to go into setting up a stx cobalt. I think the car would be competitive in stx, but not a winner....

Hopefully I may take the stx plunge but right now i'm having fun in DS

R&D is a lot of fun and quite rewarding but also takes a lot of money

I'm pretty sure Qwik knows. But, didn't really wanna share.

I haven't experienced the tire eating at all on street tires. Are you running allot of toe?

As much as people rave about the Pedders, I think they will be way too soft for a competitive STX build. They're really not any stiffer than stock, just a different force curve on them, according to John, but he won't release hard numbers.

Agree with folks above, you'll have to go custom if you wanna be on the National Tour.

Don't know about these guys but I really have no interest in being competitive at nationals. The fastest STX guy in any of the regions I run with generally beats me by about a second on a 40-50 second course. And I've still got a lot of work to do on my alignment and on street tires. So, should gain a good bit more than that going from DS to STX. I'm mainly doing it cause I think it would make the car more fun to drive at autox and track days.

SO, who's gonna be the first go put on the 265s???

Not unless money falls from the sky. I was so ready for it then lost my job and went without work for a month and a half. So, gotta get a little cushion behind me again before I go play. I'm not usually the backing out type. You going?

I'm getting bombarded with work stuff, but I'm going to try to see if I can get away for that event still.
