Voting in Canadian politics is like a "reverse police lineup"..... You look at a line up of guys and chose which guy is going to steal from you for the next four years. Another problem we have is that the party in power decides when the election will be. Does everyone remember when we were kids and had a race.....the guy that said GO usually won. Ok that's my stab at political humor for today

Please do some research. The GST just replaced the MST (manfactures sales tax)Moved a tax off manufactures and onto consumers. Unfortunatley we need the GST.
That move by the Conservatives allowed the Liberals to balance the budget.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goods_and_Services_Tax_(Canada)
Sure the Conservatives introduced it and are now saying they will cut it---maybe 2 % points.
Don't get me started on thoise #%##% lying Liberals.
Remember Cretien?
"We will kill it (GST)"-----hmmm.....Liberal Red Book PROMISE (full of lies)
$500 million dollar canncelation fees for Helicopter for the Military. Meanwhile we fly 40 year old Sea-Kings. They need 30 hours of maintence for 1 hour of flying time.
One crahed at a NY airshow
One Crashed onto a frigate
They are unavalbile for deployment 40% of the time!!!
Several of our brave Men and Woman of the Armed Forces have died in these deathtraps.
Meanwhile Creatin buys some Challenger Jets for the government worht $100 million.
No tendering contracts---he just signs a cheque.
We went to afganistan with green combat fatigues!!!! Hello? No forests there!!!
Our Military has no heavy lift transport---we have to ask Americans for rides
HRDC--loses track of 1 billion dollars---no biggie right
$2 billion dollar gun regisrty. Toronto has record high crimes involiving guns this year.
Earlier this year Ralph Goodale (minister of fiance) said no tax cuts were comnig. But now that an election is coming the Liberals promised billions of dollars, desperately trying to buy votes!
Emplyment insurance surplus amounts to $40 BILLION dollars. Way overfunded. Worse yet----that money goes into general revenue and has benn spent already!
Where PM Paul Martin on takling the democratic deficet? Maybe he forgot?
Our Prime Minister can appoint senators, Supreme court Judges, Ambasadors, Governor Generals, Presidents of Crown Corporations. He doesn't have to get approval or consult anyone!
The PM has more power then the US president!
Adscam! Corrupt memebers of the Liberal party funnle back governemt money to their party in Quebec! Way to battle seperatism!
The Bloc will now kick Liberals ass in Quebec! Serperation sentiment is on the rise.

and the conservatives are gonna fix those problems..... lol ... gimme a break....my god honest opinion.... i could care less about guns and military.... were canadians not americans... leave the guns and bombs and army to the yankees... i dont want my tax dollars going to war.... id rather save that money to my car payments paying the 3 grand in ******* gst.... thank u very fucken much.... and as for the liberals promising to remove the gst... they tried... but unfortunatly... the rednecks left it in a position that it cant be removed... and mark my words.... the conservatives wont remove a god damn thing... gun registry ya it works!!!!...... but when u got a conservative government in the UNITED STATES MAKING THE GUNS.... AND ALLOWING THEM OVER OUR BORDER..... WELL... I agree about the GST but it makes more sense to reduce it over a number of years. However, reducing consumer tax is not the answer. We still have the highest taxed workforce of any G8 country and that is absurd. Put more $$ in Canadian's pockets by keeping the fed's hands out of them (pockets)!!!

cant say the high dollar is for the cost of energy.... your force fed that bullshit..your cost of energy is cuz of the war .. bush is spending billions beyond billions on war... us on the other hand ... are paying off our debt....which was a smart move by cretien...why dig ourselves in a bigger hole to please the americans.... **** it... so... as canada pays off our debts.... america adds to theres!... look up the cost of the iraqi war... and how much its costing.... you will see why... our dollar is gonna stay high for a long time... even higher.... the conservative bush is doing well spending tax payers money....and will continue to do so.... aslong as it profits his buddy dick cheney and his big pipe oil line that runs through iraq... you fools... conservatives use u *****... to fix there needs!.... its all business.. the rich conservatives get richer... the rest of u brain washed people get poorer.... ... save your money folks..... vote liberal....... rednecks want things to benifit themselves... not u!

Your complete lack of knowlege about the world we live in is astounding. I laughed when reading your posts! I present facts and you just rave, calling me a Redneck. Where'd you come up with that clever comeback??
Do you even know WHY you vote for Liberals?? I doubt you have a very informed opinion at all.
Having a nucler sub is not what brought the Kursk (Russian sub)
down. It was a TORPEDO accident. Know your facts before you speak.
Nuclear powered does not mean nuclear bomb----in some applications, nuclear technology is the perfect solution.
As for the military, its about having good, capable equipment for our troops.
I am not advocating Aircraft Carriers and some massive arsnal of weapon/equipment and troops.
Only good thing that damn Creatin did was keep us outof Iraq. Otherwise he was a embarrassment to Canada. And having a better funded and equiped military doesn't mean having an Amercian militay at all.
Beleive me if we did not live next to a country with such freindly relations---we'd have a better military. We leech off the Americans and have little sense of the word soverignty.
Lets go back to Mulroney for a moment-- He supported the coalition during the 1991 Gulf War--if there was ever a good cause to go to war this was it---to liberate Kuwait from Iraq. Now---Cretin opposed it! He was the opposition leader at the time.
But Cretin was all for Kosovo---which was not a UN sanctioned. Its called opposition for a reason---they almost always oppose anything the governemt says.
Guess you like living in a dictatorship of Liberal corruption.
You didn't address the oter Liberal screwups---guess you like that kind of thing. Didn't even try to defend it cause you know its wrong.
NDP isn't going to form the governement---the Bloc can be wiped out so that leaves the Conservatives. Its time for a change. If they do half of what they say in the election platform--they will do a hell of a better job the the Liberals.
One more thing to ponder:
There was a vote recently on rasing the age of sexual consent. Currently Canada has about the lowest in the world. 14 years old!
Perfectly legal for someone of any age to have a sexual relationship with a 14 year old.
Thats so disgusting! Imagine if you were a parent, you could do nothing legally to stop this. A 14 year old is a child.
Only exception is when the person is in a postion of trust, like a teacher, coach ect.
Your beleoved Liberals voted it down!!! Care to defend that one?
Liberal Justice Minister said he did not want to prosecute 14, 15, 16 year olds for having sex with eachother.
Fine---makes sense. So do what every other country does---put in the law a "near in age" exemtion---problem solved. Stupid minister can't seem to grasp that concept.
Why are you voting for a party that does not protect out children???

lol... typical conservative... scandal scandal scandal... so the liberals dont make a good criminal... just shows the conservatives are better at it... mulroney almost got caught...but fought it... this political **** goes back and forth...why do we need a sub....?... why do we need guns...????? i dont...... conservatives all they do is look for bullshit

Alberta, Canada's lone "Red State".
I think we are about to have very serious problems between deeply conservative Alberta and deeply liberal Canada.
Alberta is the only province that seems to be deeply committed to preventing Gay Marriage, and not surprisingly, is our most religious province, the so called "Bible Belt" where Guns and G-d influence morality.
How did this happen? How did Alberta go one direction, and the rest of Canada the other? In the states, it would be equivalent of having 49 Californias against 1 Alabama.
Something about Alberta compelled them to develop a conservative culture.
I think its Oil.
There is something about that black goo that fosters nationalism (or well, anti-nationalism provincialism). Plus of course the typical conservative policies: pro-military, pro-privatization, tough criminal system, deep gap between rich and poor, and an intense sense of pride.
On the flip side, Albertans are VERY friendly! Its almost like a non-stop warmness. I think this comes from a deep sense of community, similar to that of a church, united in beliefs and values. Of course a nasty side effect is that inclusiveness creates xenophobia, which of course explains its resistance to gay marriage.
In order to be united, you must have an opponent.
Their politics is straight out of republican hand book. "Proud to be Albertan" was the Conservatives slogan... the Liberals never had a chance.
Now of course I have unfairly generalized the Albertans, and I failed to mention the part of the rest of Canada has played in this minor culture war. As you can tell, I myself am naturally biased and my over-simplified beliefs, common through Canada, encourage hostility which creates more extremest policies on both sides.
But I am worried what will happen in the future. Will Alberta wish to break off and become part of the States so their conservative culture could flourish? Will same-sex marriage and the Kyoto accord push them too far?
Canada of course would never let them leave for both political and economic reasons. America, desperate for oil, might encourage their province to enter the fold. Albertans, who rightly feel belittled by liberals would be happy to join America and worship both religion and fruits of capitalism.
Never again to be pressured by Ottawa to separate church and state, money and state, and guns and state.
This might get messy. I hope Ottawa leans Kyoto into Alberta slowly, they will need a year to recover from gay marriage.
I am making a preemptive apology to all of those I have offended... it is an bias opinion piece and extremely over-generalized... something I believe is dangerous.
To end off this rant...
The biggest bankruptcy in modern history, Worlcom, was headed by a former Albertan. In their final days, the CEO said to his company "Jesus is now our CEO".
this isnt my quote... just something intresting i found on the net

Alberta go shafted when the Liberal governemt intoduced the National Energy Program in the 70's. Our economy was turned upside down, thousands lost jobs (and houses) and there was a recession. In nutshell thats why we are not fond of Liberls or the federal government messing with Alberta.
The oil in the ground is th sole property of the people of Alberta and not the governemt of Canada. Our province was 20 some billion dollars in debt in the early 90's. The PC governmet slashed spending. We pulled up our belts and are now debt free. So yes, a sense of pride comes with that acomplishment.
Our government is so centalized--in the east too, I might add.
Kyoto--what a joke. Buying credits and taking money and technology out of the country.
How will having developing countries pollute more and us pollute less help anything.
Scinetists cannot agree on the cause of global warming.
Did you know that Canadas emssions levels are 20% higher then in 1990?
So now we have to go 26% below ( 6 percent below 1990 levels by the period between 2008 and 2012= 20+6) Good luck! Canada is the coldest country on the planet, has 0.5 of wrold population and is resonsible for only 2% of greenhouse gases.
