Nasty weather update

Toronto to Ottawa and beyond. We are getting hit hard right now and its coming your way. Massive lightening, freezing rain changing to snow (20cm) overnight. Expected to hit you all toimmorrow. I am writting this in between our third power outage so I will be brief. If you can check you weather channels.

Well my poor sister is probably crying up there right now.
It isn't expected to hit here in New Brunswick, from what I've heard, so I'll enjoy my un-interrupted power.

Gotta love road closures. No work today. 70 Kmh winds...20 cm of snow expected and a low of -17 (-30 with wind chill). Guess I'll get to those indoor projects that my wife wants done.
Hope it calms down before it gets to you all.

Funny how you 'duck' your head in the car when a huge sheet of frozen ice the width of your hood and the length of your entire car comes flying at you from the truck in front of you doing 120km.
As if ducking is going to help. Prayer helps more. My experience this morning!

YIKES!!!!A 20 car pile-up at the Limoges Exit on the 417 - for those of you who know where it is.
Queensway shut down there. That's as bad as I've seen it this year
The rain over the snow and then freezing is what kills ya.

Wisconsin got a foot of snow, and now its going to drop below 0 with wind chill advisories through next week. The news said this storm was so powerful it brought tornados to Indiana

Old naval term for the triangular brass frame (brass monkey) bolted to the deck of a ship that held the cannon *****. Sea spray in cold weather used to freeze em. Thus "Its cold enough to freeze the ***** on a brass monkey". My old man was navy during the war.

Ottawa Sun quote: "The most serious of many accidents so far today is a multi-vehicle crash on the eastbound Hwy. 417 near Limoges, east of Ottawa, in which OPP say three people died. Several victims were trapped in the wreckage, including some children, and had to be extricated by rescue crews. This crash occurred close to the noon hour. The accident, between Embrun and Limoges, involved at least 20 vehicles and the highway was "completely
blocked" according to OPP media relations co-ordinator Const. Dana Mellon. "

Tragic.

EDIT: And a 31 car pile up near Arnprior. Holy Jeeez.
