I would HIGHLY suggest a tune before you run the shot.........or you can add pistons to that mod list.

BUT, there is no doubt in my mind a free-flowing exhaust will increase hp especially on a stage 2 car, and for your 3.0" pulley setup the gm build book even says you need a free-flowing exhaust to maximize performance..
LOL BS on the exhaust. I ran full 3" last year. Kenny ran against me with a 3" down pipe but with stock catback....LOL. there is so much mis information out there.

I also have Dual pass.... forgot.

last year I had a whole lot of mods. I did go faster but not by much.
2.6"
CAI - EBAY chrome
60lbs injectors
HPT
WB
ZZP tensioner
ZZP catless down pipe
custome 3" cat back
dual pass intercooler.

I learned lots. there is a reason why I sold off the stuff and I am where I am at. I bet my car is faster than last year now.

didnt i always asy 3' was to big unless ur running a turbo...

this whole im faster he is faster **** is bull ****! come out on the 17th, run your cars and that will decided it...thats that..!!!

currently wes holds the record on a build he no longer has, so for the people fighting for the throne or the king defending it, come out and run ur passes.

and...for those of you who get to the track on the 17th, it would be excelent to not hear "omg the track is sooo bad today thats why i suck at lanching"

yah but most people agree 3" is too large for our cars unless your making serious horsepower, but of course a turbo car is completely different and obviously a turbo car would benefit from a 3" exhaust way more than a supercharged one. so thats not apples to apples.

and i can't believe you honestly believe you woudln't benefit from an exhaust lol. thats hilarious

i just mean an exhaust which flows air more freely than the stock setup..

its more efficient in other words, and lowers temperatures, hell you could consider it a cooling mod almost

unless i'm also wrong about compressed air being hot air lol.. hmmm... swaps in a 1.5" exhaust and see 20 psi.. afterall boost=power right? no....

**** you all! The reason my car is fastest is I have the most decals and badges!!! I painted the inside walls of my exhaust piping red, cause it's a faster colour!!!! I greased my rearview mirror hinges in preparation for wheel-hop!!!! I removed the supercharger blades cause they were causing too much heat, haha!!! Beat THAT Kenny!!! I added another clutch pedal to help in double clutching!!!! I ran the throttle cable to the shifter to help in power shifting!!!!! I'm gonna PONE YOU ALL at t3h track!!!! Fuckerz!!!!

Well that is what I am saying is run this summer and go faster or if you cant wait then maybe you want to bench test against my car, friendly of course. I meant to be funny when I said I am the fastest SC'd or fastest in winnipeg.... WHo cares in comparing on that basis really. you should be gunning for Kenny and not me. he is the fastest and we should all be looking to improve to show the imports that theses cars live up to the hype about their potential. but whatever. You wont be hearing me say that again even in a joking manner.

I went 3" cause my plans were at the time was to go big with internal changes - either I was building up a motor for S/C or Turbo. I didnt want to do exhaust twice so I did 3". I lost a little off the bottom end but performance mods else where helped out. then top end was better. Exhaust mod for flow will help you but only in the 6,000 to 7,000 rpm range. that is what I found. it is not really an opinion. Maj found the same thing when he changed long tube header and down pipe.

if your going to do anything I recommend GM catback and get a 2.5" catted down pipe.
Shorty header is ok but I have reason to believe GM header is better so you may as well hone your stock header out or try and get a header that 4-2-1 rather than 4-1. that is an opinion though.
If you run a cut out you should open it after 6,000. that may benefit you the most but untill you run on a dyno to try you wont know for sure. Richard should do three runs perfect runs, open, closed, and closed/open at 6000. times may depict the best method.
Actually if your going to do anything then go turbo.

Also JP I currently hold mods that got me the 13.9 right now plus a little more (dual pass and 3" pulley). Driving the car (launch and shift points) has a greater impact on your times then mods.

I didnt say that you would not benefit. I didnt elaborate on this. You dont really benefit that much if you do though. you would benefit for 6,000 to 7,000 rpm and can lose of the bottom end. I shift at 6,200 cause the torque curve falls off sharpley after 6500 and there seems to be more power in third in the lower rpm's vs winding out second gear. Just my experience and it worked for me.

Now if you turbo the car the power band could change greatly.

Bottom line. - could care less who is the fastest. just as long as everyone gets faster. and the way to do that is help each other share info, try different things, support each other.

I personally think mods should stop and save your pennies to go turbo. there is no point for TVS IMO. I have not seen TVS, but I have no problem with the way Kenny's car spools and at 12.5lbs of boost he has a long way to go before he has tapped the resources of that turbo.

Yah I agree turbo would be the way to go, but thats easier said than done, you guys are mechanics and I'm an accountant lol So if anybody wants a laught they could watch me try and turbo my car. I'll need duct tape to start and my pocket calculator.

And Thought: At the track I'm gonna wear a red hat and red shirt to match the colour of my car AND i'm going to have a red and black colbatss.net lanyard. (In fact I may wear as many as needed to get more horespower). And that GMPP exhaust I installed? Well I bent it in the vise near the rear so its angled upward to provide downforce on my rear tires. So take that!

and to keep this on the page for those interested, gimli list:
1.JP
2. Mss26
3. SS_RY

I'll be there as pit crew for Rob in the Shelby Charger, I have a feeling there's going to be a few street driven 10sec fwds out on may long......If the track hooks.

I don't know if I can get out to Gimli.. I had the day off, and then a friend of mine asked if I could switch with her cause she's going out of town with her parents. So now I'm working it again.

Trying to hook up another trade to get the day off again, but no luck so far.
God damn.. I really want to go!

I think what he meant was if you don't get a tune, you'll soon wreck your pistons and need new ones. Not that you should upgrade your pistons just cause of the NO2. I could be wrong though.

I want to see how fast you are with that NO2 Rich, are you going out to Gimli?

P.S. Andrew, I will respond to your PM later. I don't have my info readily available where i am.

Yeah Maj your right. We just dont want to see you run lean and blow the motor. and we want to see how well NOS works first hand so go for it and get it done right. you shouldnt need pistons if you ensure your doing well. go to the NOS section. there is a great sticky note and check list on items you need to safe guard yourself that you are properly equiped. WE WANT YOU TO GO FAST and reliable too.

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/nitrous-oxide-51/

most important to get IMO is the WINDOW SWITCH. see the sticky note for details. Next thing I think would be the need for a WB. get the AEM WB. I have one you can buy for $200 if you wish. It is an Autometer that matchs the stock boost guage.

Ya sorry if i was unclear. I meant you really need to tune the car or else youll be putting pistons in it. I have no experience with NO2 so im not gonna comment on the type of tune you need. All i do know is that the GMSTG2 tune is ****......super lean till about 4000 then super rich. And it even knocks like hell to top it off.

I'm unsure if I'm going out tonight. I'm probably going to go see Iron Man around 9, so I don't know if I'll have time to be out for Cruise. It's not to terribly nice out right now either..
