Manitoba SS's 2008
On another note.. I'm house sitting for my dad this week, and holy ****... this rocks!
All last week I was dreading having to live here, but damn after only being here for a few hours I'm pumped!
noob question...would it still be considered a mail order tune if he came up to winnipeg? or would it then be a real tune? im interested but i dont yet have the stuff i would like him to tune my car on.
if i see intrest from a couple other members i will purchase the 2.9 and 60's i plan on adding.

a real tune will take a while WITH your car. The guy would have to charge out the ASS to drive here, stay for a week and tune each car seperatly. Also need to think if he requires any tools to support him other than HPT. If he does then he will need to rent the equipment increasing the $$$ even more.
Now we all know I am the one to be negative but honestly that idea sounds terrible even when I am in as great and wonderfull of a mood as I am in today (ryan let me spoon with him last night). As far as I know there is no easy way to get a professional tune aside from giving a pro your car for a couple weeks.

For anyone considering using or buying the G tech, do it. I ran it at the track yesterday and it read .1 slow at every checkpiont and the MPH was within .5 every run, very accurte IMO.
Here's the acceleration on slicks.
0-40........2.20 sec
0-50........2.89 sec
0-60........3.42 sec
0-70........4.42 sec
0-80........5.27 sec
0-90........6.23 sec
0-100......7.64 sec
0-110......8.99 sec
0-120......10.46 sec
I want to run slicks all day long

If he just comes up here, writes a tune to your car, and then calls it a day.. It's a Tune-in-a-Can.
If he actually takes the car for a few runs and tunes progressively as he goes along, then it's less tune-in-a-can and slightly more custom tuned..

As far as I have read this guy is a pro but offered you a canned tune. If he comes here and tunes your car, even with a few pulls I would still consider it a canned tune. As far as I know (kenny or wes would know best) a proper tune will take a lot of driving and many many pulls. Not many people here have the $$$ to pay a guy to stay in wpg for a week + hand over our cars for a day or more. Also most importantly wihtout a wideband you have no idea how safe the tune actually turns out.
Your best bet would be to drive down there and let him tune it. Again though it should take at least a whole day. Should be much cheaper. Though driving to michigan isn't a short ride. Not a straight line.
If you want to be the test dummy for us then by all means. If it ends well for you then more of us might go along for the ride. How many of us can afford a new engine though if something happens? It would be less risky if you could monitor the AFR without dumping $200+ into a guage.
Well this one of my best runs.. I'll upload some more later of JP & Pavel. They take too long
. You can really hear that K&N and Supercharger screaming. A little slow on the 1-2 shift and a little bog off the line. But a night and day improvement on launching since my first time out in May.

We provided factual reasons why it would be possibly a bad idea. If you know something we don't that would show otherwise you should probably explain. Either way I won't argue it past this:

also, i did mention that going there was a choice, look at it from a business stand point dayn, 5 people want a tune in a city, you spend 300 bucks to fly there (yes it is that cheap) week of hotel rooms (lets say 100 bucks a day including food) so your at 1000 bucks for your trip, you charge 500 bucks per tune (thats very resonable) 5x500 is 2500 bucks- expensive leaves you with 1500 dollars in your pocket, seems pretty good to me.
HPTuners displays a AFR, yes its not as accuate as a wideband but still can be tunned, also...why did the mention of me not having a wideband come up? id assume you would assume i would purchase one if i was getting a tune, just as everyone should.

Mail order/canned tune would still be the same even if he came here and flashed your PCM with his "good" tune. The only thing that would change that is if he spent the time tuning your PCM while it is in your car. Flashing your PCM while in your car with a tune he did on another cobalt would also be the same as a mail order tune and possibly hazardous to your car.

hit the nail on the head with those posts. Twice.
Just give Kenny or Wes $500, lol.... Better yet, get Walls or Motion (can't remember who has the dyno) to give us the dyno for a day or afternoon - pay Wes or Kenny to Dyno tune (or tweak - no time for full tunes). Probably better results for same overall cost? Just an option to discuss - if it went through I'd come there for the day too :-)
Yah like I said it's less and less every week. We should start posting if we're gonna show up and that way we'll know to come or not.
And Courtney's moved and Jeff's car is gone so 2 of the regulars are out.
Well you also zoom in way too much at the end of the videos. And don't yell at me thats just trying to help.
