So my bumper-to-bumper is up in a few days. I brought the car by the dealership to get some last minute repairs done before I'll have to pay for them.
When I got there, they knew exactly why I was doing it. They told me to take a thourough walk around the car and bring up ANYTHING I was unhappy with, and they'd tell me if they could replace it or not.
Here was my list.. Some times the fan (when window defrost is on) makes a clicking noise like a shot bearing; the sunroof switch exploded again (common); wiper blades dont have tension on the window; my reverse lights don't work; exhaust sounded like it was leaking.
After I brought all that up, the service adviser asked why i didn't claim the scratched up door pockets (paint chips off those like crazy). I asked him if I was even able to, since it's wear and tear. He told me he didn't care how it happened, it looked like **** and he was going to replace them. The repaired all my complaints, including replaced the fan motor without even being able to reproduce my issue.
Overall, VERY impressed with them this time around. First good experience I've had with Murray in a LONG time.

I didn't know we could get that repaired... Hey Jeff, can that be added to be done when my car official goes under the knife in your shop??

Since everyone on here knows I'm getting a GenCoupe already, looks like I'm waiting at minimum another 4 weeks before the new car. Just got a call from the Dealership, they confirmed this latest shipment did not include a car in the trim I am looking for.
They also confirmed the next scheduled shipment won't land in Canada before July 1st. Screw you Hyundai and your shitting manufacturing schedule!!

I think their previous sales model was more like chevrolet, but with the added suckiness of having their factory in another continent. Like Chevy (and others) Hyundai seems to me to be structured around dictating production ratios of certain trims, then forcing their sales teams to focus on selling the cars in that ratio. The more I think about it, the more common I think that way of thinking is, it just really sucks when you are trying to get an in-demand trim level.
So here is a thought experiment: How should a company handle their uplevel or "rare" trim packages? (SS, SRT, STi, M, McLaren, SVT, etc.) Do they stick with their production ratios determined through goverment regulations/targets and sales projections? If not, how else should they do this?

Yeah I know what you mean. The issue I think with them is that they are the epitome of assembly line profit margin businesses. To make random (special order) changes requires more flexibility (time) and would therefore cost them more per vehicle. So the real issue is probably for them to be able to manufacture per special order without a loss. They would probably have to automate the process differently than they do now (account for constant changes, possibly group similar orders, etc.). Another neat option would be to go the route of designing the options as modular rather than fully integrated, kinda like the Scion. Then you could get them installed at the dealer. They should actually save money on production this way by passing the changes to the dealer. I will stop now lol. More ideas.....I think too much about random **** lol
