RPD worth getting? A few other questions as well...
Long story short, my winter vehicle is starting to cause issues, and so I am looking at getting another winter vehicle, that is still some fun to drive, and a 2009 cobalt ss/tc might be the ticket. I have a few questions however first:
1.Is the RPD something you definitely want to hold out for getting?
2.My understanding is that all 2009's had a LSD...is that correct?
3.I have read that some 2009's have engine block issues...what is the best way to tell if the car has the issue (I have read that it depends on when the car was built?).
I think there are a few more questions I had, but for now, those are the ones I am remembering to ask right now.
Thanks!

Not all 09s came with LSD. I searched for a few months before I found my 09 with LSD and the RPD.
The RPD is definitely a helpful little feature. It gives a lot of information for what it is.. The only thing that sucks is you don't see all the gauges at the same time but it's not a big deal. Definitely good because it includes a wideband.

i think its worth getting...sure beats buying a bunch of gauges... you can always add some if needed.
2.My understanding is that all 2009's had a LSD...is that correct?
nope...theres a quite a few that are non lsd.... a lot of the 09s ive looked at dont have lsd. waited until the correct one came along
3.I have read that some 2009's have engine block issues...what is the best way to tell if the car has the issue (I have read that it depends on when the car was built?).
yes and no... ive seen 2010s have porisity issues in the blocks.... also i have seen older lnfs in the kappas have them issues. compression test would be the best way to tell or a cylinder leak down test. smoking, sluggish, etc are some signs of it.

I would say the RPD is a cool "toy" but I wouldn't call it a necessity. Nothing an interceptor gauge can't do. I personally like traditional round gauges better. The LSD ONLY comes on cars that have the g85 package, you can check the build sheet under the trunk mat for that code. It helps along in turns, but if you're pretty much a straight line guy it shouldn't be a deal breaker for you.

My RPD is useful to me especially when i got my shades on and cant see my speedo good...i put on the mph but. I do want to install a stock ss vacum guage so I can monitor AF/boost or KR/Boost at the same time...I want a steering wheel column mount for that tho

Thanks guys, I looking under the mat in the trunk is something I will definitely look for, since the saleman/woman probably won't have that info.
If a guy isn't modding the car, is it still necessary to have the rpd, in your opinions? I know more gauges/info is never a bad thing, but if a guy keeps it stock, other than just be extra sure, sounds like it maybe isn't such a deal breaker? I guess it boils down to opinion too...
Alerosaint, are you asking me?

i wouldnt say it would be a deal breaker... i bought mine without the rpd and added it later. it does quite a bit and for what i payed for it with a zzp pod it was well worth it. i then sold the zzp pod because i wasent happy with it but im a little more **** then most about things.
