I'd go Vortech I've done a lot of reading on them and really like their kits. What are you putting it onto?

I never looked into vortech. I read that they quit making kits for my truck long ago. ATI is the only one that still has a kit available for the 454 SS truck. That is really the only reason I bought the Procharger

Whom ever was in charger of engineering this kit for this truck and writing the install guide needs to be public ally tarred and feathered! It's so vague it's not even funny. Well it is funny but frustrating as hell

Next year though as I'm into it for 40 k this year

It's an 89 Chevy same as Jon's vehicle just not a 454
Run the AEM stand alone it's sexy. I saw Jon's instructions for his kit it was not even for his it was an older one

Ouch. A lot of performance companies are axing old kits for vehicles older than 15 years I think. Whipple and vortech both used to make kits for tbi trucks. Now you are lucky to find pieces of one on eBay in the states

What?? I'd think all you would need is to have it bolt up should be easy it's a SBC then maybe a custom pipe to the TB I was gonna run one on my 4.3 and do a custom intercooler just fab up the pipes myself

Most vortech kits were non intercooled so custom piping wouldn't be needed. I thought 82 was when they changed from the rochesters to tpi?

hammer + sawsall + welder = It fits. I don't think you'll have any problem with a SBC in that bay with Jon's 454 there's still tons of room

Don't worry you'll instantly grow one too when you start that car again. It's a proven fact. Still better than Jon's BBQ stained Metallica wife better

1987 was the last year you could get a Rochester;
From 1988 & up, it was all TBI, or MPFI...

Good old simple carburetors...

(insert Tim Taylor approving caveman grunt here)

thats exactly what i would like, but I'm no where near agood spot to even consider buying a truck.

just because of morbid curiousity;

I've started it several times thus year.

It used to be my daily driver until I got sick of being broke, and started dabbling in GM Tuners!

Ya that's my problem with my truck it's only a 4.3 but it's so built that I don't really wanna get rid of it but my car is better in every way possible so I need to do a crazy turbo build to make it worth my while to drive it since my Cobalt handles better, is faster (currently and without NOS) is way better on gas and is way more comfortable. I'm thinking a big turbo build cage and slicks just to drag it
