I was talking to my dad about the track, he figures we could probably camp out at the castrol track. (!!) Then we'd all be there. he couldn't think of anywhere better than the CRE in Camrose to meet up and cruise to the track, too.

Oh that's what were doing this year? Castrol? haha I just voted when without even knowing where were going, because it would automatically be awesome.

I dunno if that's a mean comment, or what. I'm gonna get in touch with the CRE crew on Thursday, hopefully fire off an email to my dad to get a contact number for the grounds keeper/guy that lives there (yeah, in a trailer!) to see what we can do. The CRE is about 1.5 ish hours from Castrol. Great scenery if you haven't been out around the area before. All highway.

Bad news. On the Castrol raceway website, the tenative schedule doesn't have any street legal track time set for either of the dates we're voting on. There's July 17th and June 19th. When I get someone from the track on the phone I'll ask them how much booking it for one night would be.

Great!

As much as the Camrose place would be great to camp, it is a bit out of the way for people. I wanted to have our main meet in a more central location such as Edmonton. Castrol Raceway is not that far so that is a good thing.

The main thing is getting a lot of people to cruise in one direction and all get there at about the same time. It can be daunting that is for sure!!

BUT if after we go to the track (if that is possible to get set up), then people can head out there to camp overnight!

We still have lots of time yet so we will see what happens in time.

I don't really like this idea... if its a Cobalt/Delta/JBody meet, we all have something in common, but if there is a whole pile of other cars there, then its just a party/race. Which i don't know if we want to lean towards. Not myself anyway.

i think it would be kinda cool to have more then just cobalts there again. the more the merrier as long as they behave themselves and all that good stuff i see no reason why that can't join in the fun

Hey guys, just an update..

I sent off emails to both the CRE and to Castrol, but my dad is making a follow up call to the guy out at Castrol, since he's worked pretty close with him before, he could get us a deal on the track. But since it's not on an 'official' track day, we'd have to rent it. Which means that it would cost money. Now I don't know about you, but I'm not pulling in a whole lot of money, so I'm gonna try to get it down as cheap as possible. What we do have to pay for though is ambulance stand by and track prep (might be a couple other things, but that's what my dad thought they had to pay for last time they did a company street legal night, which was years ago). He couldn't remember how much that was, but here's what I was thinking; $25 to $50 to participate in the meet. All of it would go to either where ever we plan to camp and to the Castrol Raceway. Otherwise it's just not gonna happen unless either me or DoubleLP wins the lottery (I can't. under 18! so that makes the chances that much slimmer. ).

Oh, and with what the current topic is, I'd prefer a cobalt only meet, or a cobalt/G5 meet. Otherwise it's gonna be a car competition, not a show and shine. That and the other owners of other cars will be segmented (and we can't help that. it's a mental thing. it's like racism. I'll call it carism ) so there's no point.

Well we will wait and see how much it is going to cost and see what everyone thinks from there. Thanks for giving us an update though!

As for the other cars....I think if we had more "GM" cars there it would be better. As Matt said, we had other cars there but they basically just sat by themselves or did not really converse with us. So I am thinking we should keep it a "GM themed" meet.
