Edmonton area tinting / winter tire questions
gotta get this puppy tinted up. curious if anyone has any suggestions for quality/service/price and or any tips on bad experiences with tinting in the edmonton area.
also anyone who has experience with side tinting.....what have you "gotten away with"
or "heard from the cops" id really love to have a bit of tinting done to my sides but i really dont want to deal with tickets all the time..
secondly......winter in alberta.....who has stayed on stock rims/tires....
do you think steelies with winter rubber is a "must have"?
ive driven low profile 16s for a long time through winters and i doubt the issue will be with the drivability of the car....moreso a question of how hard was winter on your rims....
discuss?
(hard for me to want to blow this much money on steel/rubber when i want so badly to put the money into toys )

I wouldn't tint. It is all illegal other than the rear passenger windows. I see lots of it, but the ticket is pretty high. Some cops will tear it off if they pull you over.

the research ive done over the last 2 weeks tells me tinting is completely legal for back and rear windows. the only one that is illegal is driver and passenger front windows or the windshield
and ive seen tons of people with driver/passenger tinting around too.
so i get a distinct feeling the cops arent paying much attention to it.

They don't but they can. Driving down from Ft. Mac I saw a checkstop give out 4 tickets in less than a minute to two vehicles. Tint, windshield lettering, exhaust noise and tail light covers. You might get away with it for a while but in the end you will get bitten.
BTW, regardless of legal or not, if they damage your vehicle in anyway they are liable.

for tint, call Clear choice 484-3388 ask for Phuong. Get a metalized tint. It has higher heat rejection than a dyed film. lasts twice as long too. I bought some MADICO ONYX off him to do up my car. 35% all 5 glass on black ss s/c , looks good not too dark.
i used this film for 15 years, and did my moms new truck in 1985, the tint still looks good, just starting to turn a lil purple now. It was a dyed film by madico. now films are made much better unless you get the budget manufacturers films.
